With the COVID 19 Pandemic still around. Large gatherings are still prohibited like students and teachers going to school. So, the inmediate remedy is study at home or what the Department of Education calls it Distance Learning. For this kind of e-learning method, you need a PC or a tablet plus a stable internet connection. We discussed much about its hardware on our unboxing and first impressions article. To sum it all up, it looks like any other tablet we’ve seen. The design is nothing to exciting but it is well built and very solid. The thick bezels are very useful especially when holding it vertically or horizontally.
The 10.1-inch display is an IPS panel and has good color accuracy which is perfect for watching movies on Netflix or playing some games. Unfortunately it doesn’t go as bright outdoors so this tablet is perfect for indoor use. On the flip side, watching movies indoors and having online classes via Zoom is a joy because of its dual Harman Kardon stereo speakers. Audio is rich and very loud. No need for an extra Bluetooth speaker.
Let’s talk software. The Huawei Mediapad T10s is running EMUI 10 on top of Android 10 which is an Android Open Source Program (AOSP). Just like any other Huawei device, it does not have Google Mobile Services. Instead, Huawei has its own – Huawei Mobile Service. Its own App Gallery has been growing exponentially and thousands of new apps are adding up everyday. Last time we checked, new apps like Kumu, ABS-CBN News and more are already in Huawei’s App Gallery. Other apps that we normally have like Foodpanda, GCash, BDO Online Banking, Vjber, Tiktok are already present there. Other apps like Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Twitter, Netflix and other apps can be downloaded via APK Pure.
On the perrormance side, the Kirin 710A can handle all basic tasks with ease. The chipset, however, can’t handle high graphic games. And if you are a student just simply use the tablet for online schooling instead.
BATTERY AND CONNECTIVITY
The one key feature of the tablet is its 4G/LTE capability. Getting through your online school anytime, anywhere is easy. Internet speeds are normal with no sudden loss of signal.
As for the battery, we managed to get around 6 hours of screen on time via our video loop test and still get about 30% juice left. With normal use, this is an easy two days battery.
The Huawei Matepad T10s is truly a reliable companion for your kid’s online school. It has great audio and a nice screen. Having 4G/LTE is big plus and battery life is decent. For Php 12,990 we think you are getting a good deal here especially if you can’t afford a laptop as of the moment.
