HARDWARE

If most phones are looking a lot like the Galaxy S20 series nowadays, Huawei went on a different direction with the Huawei Nova 7i. Take a look at the back and focus your attention at the rear camera module. Looks familiar? That’s because the company took some inspiration from Apple. Its nice actually and its quite pleasing to look at as compared with the current iPhones. We don’t actually like the black model we have here as it is fingerprint magnet and smudge prone. Better slap on a case here. We are actually gunning for the Crush Green as it is more appealing to look at.

Moving on to the display. We have a 6.4-inch 1080p IPS LCD display here. To our surprise, it does look like an AMOLED panel. Colors are so lively and punchy. We are so delighted that the screen is also usable outdoors.

The Huawei App Gallery

SOFTWARE

We have much to talk about the software. The Huawei Nova 7i is running Android 10 with EMUI 10 on top. We also have Huawei Mobile Services in tow. Huawei’s own App Gallery has a growing number of apps. Popular apps like Tiktok, Snapchat, GCash, BDO Online Banking, Viber, Lazada and many more are already available in the App Gallery. Contrary to popular belief, your favorite apps from Google Play Store such as Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Twitter, Netflix, etc can be downloaded to your phone. On App Gallery, to search and type Facebook and you will be redirected to a page in which you can download Facebook. You can also download APK Pure app to download your other apps.

On the software and performance side, the Kirin 810 performs extremely well in day to day tasks. It can also handle light and medium games like Mobile Legends. new viral games like Gardenscapes and Homescapes will also run smoothly here. EMUI 10 is more polished than ever. we do love the flatter, more simplistic look of it. Navigating the phone is so easy and tweaking it to your liking is a breeze.

CAMERA

We consider the rear quad cameras as one of its highlight features. Huawei’s software post processing of photos has been superb. Photos appear to be sharp and bright. Some may not like the blown up highlights or its tendency to overexpose, but our eyes are liking these kind of photos. Here, check out some of our photos.

BATTERY AND CONNECTIVITY

Battery has been Huawei’s strong suit. with EMUI’s great battery optimization, we noticed that the 4,200 mAh battery last longer than usual. We managed to get around 8 hours of screen on time on our video loop test. We consider the Huawei Nova 7i a two-day phone.

Another Huawei strong suit is connectivity. Huawei’s signal receivers are extremely good in getting the best LTE and WiFi signal available. We usually get faster LTE and WiFi speeds compared with other brands we reviewed. Calls are clear with no issues.

VERDICT

The Huawei Nova 7i delivers the best camera on its class. Give thanks to Huawei’s great software processing. Apart from that, battery and LTE connectivity has been always excellent in a Huawei phone. The surprising feature we like here is the display. Its bright and crisp like an AMOLED. Its not hard to recommend the Huawei Nova 7i to anyone. With this, we give our two thumbs up recommendation. 🙂
