We tackle much about its hardware and design on our unboxing article. But just to put emphasis, we really do love the color of the phone called Aurora Purple. Two things you need to know. The phone uses the old USB 2.0 port and it has a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also FM radio on board. Just like we mentioned before, the phone is solidly built.

As for the display, we have 6.26-inch display that is an IPS 720p panel. Overall it is decent for the price. It doesn’t go as bright as we wanted it outdoors.

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 450 is quite old but still reliable. For basic tasks like social media, casual calls, messaging, the chipset can easily handle them. When it comes to games, maybe we should only stick to Candy Crush. This is not a gaming phone and we do not recommend stressing the processor.

The Huawei Y7 runs on a two-year old Android 8.1 Oreo. Why is that so since we now have Android 10 already? Well, the Huawei Y7 was released way back in early 2019 in other markets. Huawei Philippines released the phone this year to further strengthen its entry level presence. The Huawei Y7 both have Google Mobile Services and Huawei Mobile Services with Huawei’s own App Gallery comes pre-installed. The App Gallaery has growing number of apps that can be useful for you. Apps for online transactions like Shopee, Lazada and GCash are already in the App Gallery. Other apps like Tiktok and Viber are also present in the App Gallery.

For an entry level smartphone, the 13MP rear camera together with the 2MP depth sensor can take very decent photos. With the limits of the Enhanced Community Quarantine prevailing during the time of this review, we are limited to the confinements of our home. Most photos taken are just within the premises of our home. So you will be the judge and check out some of our sample shots.

Huawei is known for its outstanding WiFi and network connectivity. Again, with the limits of the quarantine, we only tested our WiFi and Globe’s LTE network within our home. So far, calls are clear with no issues. Internet speeds are quite decent too both using WiFi and LTE.

As expected with Huawei phones and its software optimizations, the Huawei Y7 lasted us around solid two days of light and moderate use. On our video loop test, we managed to get 7 hours of screen on time which very good.

The Huawei Y7 is a pretty decent entry level smartphone. For Php 6,990, you get a phone with excellent build quality, decent cameras, good connectivity and great battery life. In addition to that Huawei is throwing a Mother’s Day promo for the Huawei Y7. For every purchase, you get a FREE Huawei umbrella worth Php 500. This promo is valid until May 31, 2020.
