The Huawei Y9s has a very familiar design. That is because the phone looks a lot like its cousin the HONOR 9x we reviewed last year. We love this Breathing Crystal color that we have. This is the same color found on the Huawei P30 Pro. If you are looking for the fingerprint scanner, it is found on the power button at the right side.

The 6.59-inch display is decent with good color calibration. This is no AMOLED thoigh. It does go bright but not bright enough under direct sunlight.

The Huawei Y9s has Google Mobile Services which has pre-installed Google apps and Play Store. The phone also runs Android 9.0 Pie. Everything you expect from EMUI 9.1, Huawei’s custom skin on top of Android, are here. There is an option to put an app drawee which we like.

On everyday grind, the phone runs smoothly thanks to its chipset underneath, the Kirin 710F. This is already proven to be good midrange chipset. It runs games smoothly like Mobile Legends.

We are happy to see the results of our sample photos using its triple rear cameras. Photos taken with good light are bright, sharp and good color saturation . Night shots are equally good too. Huawei seems to master its camera tech for its midrange offerings.

Huaaei is known for having excellent signal reception both network and WiFi. We never experienced sudden drops of signal. Internet speeds are decent and calls are clear with no issues.

The 4,000 mAh is large enough to power the Huawei Y9s throughout the day. With Huawei’s impressive battery optimization, you can even stretch your use for up to two solid days. On our video loop test, we managed to get 9 hpurs of screen on time which is very impressive.

The Huawei Y9s is a solid midrange offering. This phone has very good AI cameras, excellent battery life, solid build and great connectivity. No need to worry because fhis has Google Mobile Services available. We highly recommend this phone if you are looking for a sub 15k phone.
