Apple iPhone 11 Review After 2 Months: The iPhone You Should Buy

We have been very honest that ever since, we never liked Apple as a whole for many reasons. Some of the reasons are closed ecosystem, expensive price tag and repair to name a few. Over the years, Apple has made efforts to improve some of its features for the iPhone, iPad and even the Macbook to better fit is very high asking price but never worked. Sales continue to go down globally.

But it seems like things has changed this year. For the first time, Apple has reduced the price of its new generation iPhone 11 compared to the price of last year’s iPhone XR. Offering the same specs for the much lesser price, is the iPhone 11 worth buying? Let’s find out!

Apple iPhone 11 specs:

  • Apple A13 Bionic processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 64/ 128 / 256GB internal storage
  • 6.1-inch HD IPS LCD display (828 x 1792 pixels)
  • Rear Cameras
    • 12MP f/1.8, PDAF, OIS
    • 12MP ultrawide
  • Front Cameras
    • 12MP

The hardware is not that different from the previous iPhone XR. It retains the design and screen size of the previous model. The only design difference is the square camera module at the back which houses the two 12MP cameras and the flash. The size is perfect for those who thinks the iPhone 11 Pro is small and the iPhone 11 Pro Max is too big for them. We expected the iPhone 11 to have a USB Type C port but still, Apple opted for the lightning port. No headphone jack still though.

We are not audiophiles but we know good audio. The iPhone 11 has two stereo speakers – one at the earpiece and the other at the bottom. The audio is richer and fuller than the previous model. No need for a Bluetooth speaker! This is one of our best audio experience on a smartphone aside from the Galaxy S10 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

Moving on to the display, this is one hot topic for many Apple fans and haters. The 6.1-inch display has a weird 828 x 1792 resolution. Not quite Full HD and not AMOLED like the Pro models. We think this is one of Apple’s compromises to further lower the price. It may have a low sub HD resolution, Apple’s display calibration is one of the best we’ve seen in an IPS panel. It is surprisingly bright too! You can use this phone under direct sunlight with no problem.

iOS has its pros and cons ever since. One of its main cons its closed ecosystem with Apple and lack of freedom to customize. One of its pros is once Apple sends updates, all compatible devices will get it. One thing we like is Apple’s support for their devices. The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus has managed to get iOS 13 still and that device is already 4 years old.

When it comes to software experience, the iPhone 11 and iOS 13 is generally smooth. As of this writing, the iPhone 11 runs on iOS 13.3 which fixes multiple bugs. For us, Android is still the best but if you are looking for a simple and easy to use software, iOS is your top choice.

The iPhone is one of the best in terms mobile photography. But its rivals like Huawei and Samsung has added more than two cameras on their flagships like a telephoto lens and an ultrawide camera. Night photography has been a big thing too this year. Apple has upgraded its cameras across all its new models. For the iPhone 11, the company added a 12MP ultrawide lens. We also noticed a change in the camera app too. The photos are much, much better as compared to last year’s models. There is Night Mode here, finally! But you can’t just activate it. When the camera detects a dark environment, it automatically switches to Night Mode.

iPhones are not known for its battery. It is already automatic that when you buy an iPhone, be ready to buy a powerbank as well. But for this year’s iPhones, Apple has drastically increased the battery capacity for all models. For the iPhone 11, from the iPhone XR’s 2,942 mAh mill, it is now 3,110 mAh. In theory you get additional 1 hour battery life. The iPhone XR already has very good battery life and the iPhone 11 has much better endurance based on our video loop test. We managed to get around 6 hours of screen on time which pretty good for an iPhone.

As for its connectivity, the iPhone 11 has battery WiFi and 4G connectivity than the previous model. Calls are always clear with no sissues. There are no incidents of drops in signal nor sudden slowdown in 4G connectivity. But compared to its rivals, there are still better 4G and WiFi connectivity out there with better stability and reliability like the Huawei P30 Pro.

The iPhone 11 is the best iPhone to buy right now. It is cheaper than the Pro versions but shares flagship specs with them like the A13 Bionic chip, the two 12MP cameras minus the telephoto lens and a large battery. The LCD display is not as bad as you think. It is bright and color accurate. Our gripe though is Apple still offer 64GB option as a base model. We think they should offer 128GB as a base model for all models because of its still high price tag for many smartphone buyers.
