It is this time of the year again in which we awarding our #FTARecommended badge for the best smartphones this year. Let’s tak about first the flagship smartphones. We are happy that there are more flagship smartphones are in the country this year.

But the best smartphones should stand out with the following categories – design, software, camera and battery. So here are the best flagship smartphones you can buy now that we can highly recommend. These phones are not arranged in no particular order.

Apple iPhone 11

Loyal Apple fans who are still using older iPhones can now upgrade to the iPhone 11. This phone’s highlight features are the cameras including the selfie camera. Our only gripe is the low resolution 6.1-inch display which only above 720p. On the flip side, this IPS LCD display is the most color accurate and brightest we’ve ever seen. Apple is known for best screen calibrations. Another compelling feature to upgrade is the battery. The 3,110 mAh mill can last you all-day and some 40% more to spare if you are a moderate user. This is the best performing battery in an iPhone today. Cameras are fantastic as well. The iPhone 11 has the best video camera in a smartphone today. If you are an aspiring vlogger, this the best phone to start with. Our review will be coming up very soon! Price starts at Php 47,990 (64GB).

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ PH Price Specs Availability

Samsung Galaxy Note 10+

This is the phone that we never get a chance to review but we had a chance to play around with it a couple of times. If you want an all-rounder phone, this is the phone to buy. Of course, Samsung makes the best AMOLED displays and this is probably the best display you can get now. Apart from that, the Note 10+ has a unique video feature called audio zoom. When shooting a video and zooming in to a subject, the audio also zooms to your subject. This is perfect when recording a concert performance. Battery is decent but not spectacular. Price is at Php 60,990.

Huawei P30 Pro

Huawei is in the middle of the US-China trade war and the US ban on Huawei. US banned Huawei to do business with US companies such as Google who owns Android. As a result of the ban, the newly announced Huawei Mate 30 series does not have Google Mobile Services like Google Play Store, You Tube, Google Maps, etc. On the other hand, the Huawei P30 Pro is not part of the ban since it was announced in March 2019, months before the US ban. It is still selling like hotcakes because of the camera, crazy battery life and the amazing design. If you want the best camera with Google services, look nowhere else. Price is also competitive – Php 45,990.

OnePlus 7 Pro/7T Pro

One brand that is gaining popularity here in the Philippines is OnePlus. If you are not aware of the brand, its a Chinese smartphone maker founded by a former OPPO executive. It started in the US in 2013 and offers flagship specs for the half the price of most flagships. Most OnePlus phones have mediocre cameras and the company continue to improve it over time. We can safely say that the OnePlus 7 Pro and its upgraded version, the OnePlus 7T Pro can now compete with the best cameras today. Battery is terrific and that 90Hz display is simply the best in any smartphone. Price is at Php 42,990.

OnePlus 7T

Fresh out of the oven! The OnePlus 7T has just been launched in the Philippines. The device is a more affordable alternative for the higher end OnePlus 7T Pro. It has the same 90Hz display which we like the most. It has triple rear cameras and a selfie camera which is situated in a notch. Keep in mind though that the OnePlus 7T has a smaller battery. 90Hz display eats more power than regular 60Hz display and may take a hit to the battery. The device is priced at Php 32,990.

Vivo NEX 3

Yes you read it right. Vivo has a flagship smartphone and it deserves some attention. You will see the hard work that Vivo has done for the phone especially when you see it upclose. So far, this is the best looking smartphone today next to the Huawei P30 Pro. Under the hood, it has the flagship specs you need. But what’s unique with the phone is the lack of physical buttons for the power and volume adjustments. Instead, you get like a haptic feedback at the right side of the phone for power and volume. Surprisingly enough, the phone has a 3.5mm audio jack which is nice. Cameras are at par with the best ones out there but one of the best feature of this phone is that large 6.89-inch display which is the largest and most vibrant we’ve seen in a flagship. Price is very good too – Php 39,999.

OPPO Reno 10x Zoom Edition

OPPO is targeting the Huawei P30 Pro with the OPPO Reno 10x Zoom edition because of the phone capability to zoom in to your subjects that are very far away. These cameras can zoom up to 60x digital zoom. It is also a standout when it comes to design. It has a sharksfin-like pop up selfie camera which is cool. Battery is also decent and the display is also good. This is your best Huawei P30 Pro or Huawei Mate 30 Pro alternative today. Price is at Php 49,990.

Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro

If you are looking for value for money flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro is you best bet. For only Php 18,990 you get flagship level specs like that Snapdragon 855 chipset, an AMOLED display, triple cameras and recently, an Android 10 update. But keep in mind that there are compromises here that made Xiaomi lower the price that low. First, the cameras are not the best. Don’t get us wrong, the cameras are decent but if you will compare it to other flagships, it would be lacking in detail especially at night.

Final Thoughts

There are other good flagships our there like the Samsung Galaxy S10 series and the Huawei Mate 30 series. The problem with the Huawei Mate 30 series is the lack of Google Mobile Services. If you really want this phone, you have to side load the Google Mobile Services. There are risks though so make sure the APK file is safe to download. The Samsung Galaxy S10 is a great phone but its old. The Samsung Galaxy S11 is set to launch in February 2020 and in a few months, the Galaxy S10 will feel dated. The OnePlus 7 is also a good phone but why buy that phone if there is the OnePlus 7T already?

We hope this article helps you choose the best phone for you. We wish you well on your flagship smartphone hunting!
