Reasons to get the Realme 5

  • Bigger display. This means better viewing and gaming.
  • Bigger battery. Its an easy two-day phone
  • The base model 3GB/32GB is cheaper.
  • That 12MP main camera may be lacking pixel power over the 48MP but that camera can take very good photos. We also love its night mode.
  • The Realme 5 looks and feels well built although a bit heavy

Reasons to get the Redmi Note 8

  • It may have a smaller display but it is on full HD. It sharper and brighter even outdoors.
  • That 4,000 mAh battery is smaller than 5,000 mAh but it is still a two day phone for many users still. It also has faster 18W charging speeds.
  • The 48MP main camera shoots 12MP by default. Bumping it up to 48MP will more detail to your photos thus sacrificing storage space.
  • There are three color options over two. We like to see the white one.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to performance, we think they will offer the same smoothness since both are powered by the same chipset. What will matter to you is the price and what memory configuration you will choose. The 4GB/64GB Redmi Note 8 is better than the 3GB/64GB of the Realme 5. Bigger RAM is always better. But choosing either of the two will never disappoint you.
