The Huawei P30 Pro has been in the market for 5 months now and so far sales has been very successful. This is despite the fact of the US Government ban for US companies like Google to do business with Huawei. But the ban was lifted and Huawei has committed to do business with Android. Huawei continues to increase it sales and shipments which reflects the high demand for their products.

The Huawei P30 Pro is one of the best smartphones in the market today. With the 5-month old phone now facing new and upcoming phones like the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series, the new iPhones coming this September and the Huawei Mate 30 series due to be announced next month, is this phone still a good buy? Check the reasons why this is still a good phone to buy

Price Markdown

There are two Huawei P30 Pro variants available. First is the base model 8GB RAM / 256GB ROM and the P30 Pro Amber Sunrise color with 8GB RAM/ 512GB ROM. The base model is now reduced from Php 50,990 to Php 45,990. You also get a free Huawei Freebuds Lite worth Php 4,999 as part of Huawei’s Rainy Season promo. The Amber Sunrise Huawei P30 Pro is priced at Php 55,990 plus you get freebies – a Huawei Freebuds Lite worth Php 4,999 and Huawe Moonlight selfie stick for Php 1,999. This promo is valid until August 31.

One Good-looking Device

We’ve seen leaks of the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 series and we personally don’t like the design we saw. We also prefer the design of the P30 Pro over last year’s Mate 20 Pro. The P30 Pro looks better than other flagships like the Galaxy S10+. Huawei has indeed invested so much on their R&D (research and development) for them to come up with good looking smartphones like this one.

The 6.47-inch OLED display is bright and very colorful. We were never bothered by the waterdrop notch. Like we said, we prefer this notch over the large notch on the Mate 20 Pro. The lack of a headphone jack might be bummer for some but the phone has a USB Type C earphones included in the box.

Zoom Away

Many tech reviewers have hailed the P30 Pro as one of the best camera systems in a flagship phone. And this is the reason why people are buying the device. Apart from the amazing night shots, the Periscope 8MP camera can do 5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom. The photos are very detailed even on 10x zoom. You can also zoom up to 60x as well.

Solid 2-day Battery Life

No other flagship smartphone today (unless it is a gaming phone) can match the Huawei P30 Pro’s battery life. The secret is Huawei’s battery optimizations. EMUI has been closing running apps in the background to conserve energy. Plus the fact that the phone is only on full HD which screen sip less battery than phones with Quad HD screens. As a result, we usually get solid 2-days on this phone with mixed moderate to heavy use. On our video loop test, we manage to get 9 to 10 hours of screen on time.

Excellent Network and WiFi connection

We have been praising Huawei for its excellent network and WiFi signal reception. When riding elevators, we normally get very weak network signals on other phones which never happen if we use any Huawei phone. This is probably due to Huawei’s expertise in making telecommunications equipment like WiFi routers, cellsites and base stations.

Final Thoughts

The Huawei P30 Pro is still the best Android flagship right now. With Huawei is pouring its support on the device. EMUI 10 on top of Android Q (Android 10) is coming to the said device this September. This means the Huawei P30 Pro will be one of the first to get the latest Android version. The phone has gone cheaper too at Php 45,990 (8GB/256GB model) which makes the P30 Pro very competitive in terms of pricing. With that, we give our #FTARecommended seal of approval to the Huawei P30 Pro.
