Digital Walker has recently made the regular OnePlus 7 available in the Philippines. Compare to its Pro sibling, there are some features missing but you get more value for your money. We managed to play around a OnePlus 7 unit in a store and we want to share our thoughts. This is not a full review but merely our first impressions on our short hands on. So here are the top reasons why the OnePlus 7 is a good buy.
OnePlus 7 specs:
- Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855
- Adreno 640 graphics
- 8GB RAM
- 256GB internal storage
- 6.41-inch Full HD AMOLED display (2340 x 1080 pixels)
- Corning Gorilla Glass 6
- Dual Rear Cameras
- 48 MP, f/1.7, PDAF, OIS
- 5MP, f/2.4, depth sensor
- 16MP f/2.0 front facing camera
- Dual SIM, Dual Standby
- 4G/LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth
- Fingerprint Scanner (under display), USB Type C
- Sensors – accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass
- GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, SBAS, GALILEO
- 3,700 mAh battery with 20W fast charge
- Android 9.0 Pie with OxygenOS 9.5
A phone with a Snapdragon 855, AMOLED display, dual flagship cameras, large battery for Php 26,990 is a big steal! Apart from the flagship chipset, you also get 8GB RAM and a generous 256GB of internal storage.
It may be lacking that 90Hz refresh rate of the Pro version but the 6.4-inch display is an AMOLED panel. this means you get the same display quality which is still perfect for content consumption. Plus, since it is a smaller screen, it has a smaller body so this is more pocketable
No Pop Up Camera
The OnePlus 7 basically has the same body as the older OnePlus 6T with 2019 specs. The regular model has a waterdrop notch to house the selfie camera similar to the older 6T. For us moving parts on a smartphone raises concern because they are usually the first to break. With the regular OnePlus 7, you will not worry anything about that.
Same Main Camera As The Pro
The regular model does not have the 16MP wide angle lens and the 8MP telephoto lens but the 48MP main camera is still there plus a 5MP depth sensor for bokeh shots. Expect the same great photo quality from the Pro model. Please do check out our review of the OnePlus 7 Pro for your reference.

OxygenOS is an Android purists dream phone in the Philippines
Since Google’s Pixel phones that runs pure Android experience is not available in the Philippines, the OnePlus 7 is a next best thing for Android purists looking for a flagship phone. OxygenOS is speedy, very pure Android and simple to use. OnePlus phones are also one of the first to get the latest version of Android plus regular security updates.
