The Vivo Y17 features a triple rear camera system, generous 128GB+4GB memory configuration, and a big 5,000mAh battery on a price of PHP 11,999 (before: PHP 12,999).
With this, the Vivo Y17 has become easier to recommend specially for those consumers who are looking for a bang for the buck mid-range smartphone on a 12K budget.
Aside from the mentioned key features above, let’s see what else the Vivo Y17 has to offer.
The Vivo Y17 has a slightly thicker body compared to the latest Vivo V and Y Series because of its large screen size and huge battery capacity. But overall, you can still grip it comfortably thanks to its round edges.
At the back, you can see a glass-like glossy and reflective cover with tiny diagonal lines, adding micro-details to the overall physical appearance of the phone. It also has the triple rear camera system and an LED flash positioned vertically on the upper left corner and the fingerprint scanner on the upper center part.
The front was composed of a 6.35-inch display with a relatively thick chin bezel and a water-drop notch housing the front-facing camera.
The positioning of the ports and buttons are as usual. The volume rocker and the power button are located on the upper right side of the phone.
The triple-slot SIM/micro SD card tray is on the upper left side and the audio jack, microphone, micro-USB port, and loudspeaker grills are on the bottom part of the device.
The Vivo Y17 has a pretty huge 6.35-inch display with HD+ resolution. The colors are so vivid and even though it only has a 720p maximum resolution, the details on the display are still sharp. The overall viewing experience has become more effective because of the bright display that you can use it and see the display clearly under direct sunlight.
Powering the Vivo Y17 is the MediaTek Helio P35 12nm octa-core processor paired with generous 4GB of RAM. The aging chipset might be the biggest drawback that we can clearly notice with this phone. It can still run the usual apps and tasks like browsing the internet, using social media apps, and even playing popular games like Mobile Legends, PUBG, and Asphalt 9, but the loading and opening of apps are not as fast compared to other mid-rangers with higher processors.
In addition, Vivo equipped the Y17 with an Ultra Gaming mode named Game Cube. Basically, it optimizes the performance of your games to provide you smoother gameplay. You can also block incoming notifications and calls with this feature.
The Vivo Y17 has a very versatile triple rear camera system for its price. It has a 13MP f/2.2 main sensor paired with an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP for depth sensing.
Overall, the rear cameras are pretty decent for day to day use and for social media posting. It has good exposure and vibrant colors specially on day time shooting. The wide-angle lens was able to add more details out of the scene and we are glad that the output is still as sharp with the main sensor. The edge detection is just average but still able to produce DSLR-like images with blur effect on the background.
The 20MP selfie camera also takes good quality photos. HRD is working really well and the AI Beauty feature can remove the imperfections in your face without wiping too much details.

As mentioned above, the Vivo Y17 has a huge 5,000mAh battery. On our actual average usage, the Vivo V17 is more than enough for our whole day of use. It even leaves around 15-25% battery life after using it as a daily driver. The low power HD+ display also plays a big part in this result. In case you run out of battery, this device has support to Vivo’s Dual Engine 18W fast charging tech than can fill up the battery in an average of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
The Vivo Y17 is very easy to recommend. It has a lot of competitive features like a big display, triple rear camera system, and a huge 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. If these features are more than enough for you in a 12K budget, then it is clear that the Y17 is the one for you.
