When you hear the word “entry level” which we refer on a smartphone, first thing comes to mind to people are the questionable build quality, crappy performance, bad cameras. Over the years, smartphone makers has raised the ante with their entry level offerings by giving them better cameras, better user experience and tougher build.
Now, there are really good entry level smartphones we can strongly recommend that you won’t think that these phones are just waste of hard earned money. Check out some our highly recommended entry level smartphones in no particular order.
Realme 3 3GB/32GB (Php 6,990)
The Realme 3 is also on our list of best smartphones you can buy right now. Among all the Realme 3 variants, the 3GB/32GB variant is the one that we recommend. For Php 6,990 you get the really good Helio P60 processor which is good for gaming and heavy tasks. Cameras are very capable as well. The Realme 3 takses the best nigh mode shots and the best selfies. We believe the 3GB/32GB models offers better value than the 3GB/64GB model. For us, we think that the 4GB/64GB model is a better option if you want more memory on your phone.
Redmi Note 7 4GB/64GB (Php 9,990)
The Redmi Note 7 remains to be the hottest smartphone today. It sells out easily at Xiaomi stores. We’ve been getting questions on our social media channels if there are any available units. Its standout features are two things – camera and processor. It runs on Snapdragon 660 which is a proven powerful chip for gaming and a 48MP main rear camera. There are so a=many variants of the Redmi Note 7 but we strongly recommend the 4GB/64GB variant because of its value.
Samsung Galaxy A20 (Php 9,990)
Normally you see AMOLED displays on higher end smartphones. Not anymore. The Samsung Galaxy A20‘s AMOLED panel is stunning for an entry level smartphone. As for the performance, it may not match up with the Redmi Note 7 but it can still handle tasks and light games. Cameras are surprisingly good too! We love the phone’s wide angle lens! Plus, we some brand conscious people who are looking for an affordable smartphone who prefers legacy brands like Sony, LG, Nokia and Samsung as their phone. The Samsung Galaxy A20 is phone we can recommend.
Realme C2 3GB/32GB – Php 6,490
Recently launched, the Realme C2 is crowned “The Entry Level King” and we think it deserves that title. The reason is simple. It offers the best value for your money especially with the features it has. For this price, it has dual cameras – a 13MP main camera and 2MP depth sensor. It takes really good photos and selfies with the 5MP camera. We are still reviewing the Realme C2 so please watch out for our full review coming soon.
Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 – Php 9,990
Another camera champ is the Huawei Y7 Pro 2019. Camera quality goes head to head with midrangers, that’s how good the shots from this phone. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 450 processor paired with 3GB RAM. We wish it could go for 4GB RAM because of its price. Overall impression on this phone is pretty good. Now if your concern is the recent ban of Huawei by American tech companies like Google, worry not. If you intend to buy one, just go ahead! It will have a Google Play Store and Google services on it. It is however, won’t get security patches and updates beyond August 2019.
