Shopee released an official statement about over alleged scamming of BLACKPINK fans

Shopee Philippines has officially addressed the alleged scamming of Filipino BLACKPINK fans by releasing an official statement and apologized for what happened.

Last night, Shopee brought the BLACKPINK, which is one of the most famous Korean girl group and Shopee’s Global Brand Ambassador, here in the Philippines.

Since they have a lot of die-hard fans here in the Philippines, Shopee also launched an online contest by giving away tickets and a chance to meet and greet for the top spenders on their platform.

Few days before the event, many Shopee users and “BLINK” fans have already received a text message that they won a ticket due to being one of the top spenders. But suddenly, Shopee called back their names and explained that the previous notifications were wrongfully sent and therefore forfeited the supposed winner’s spot. Fans also noticed some changes to the mechanics before the final leg of the event.

Many BLINK fans were disappointed and released their tension online with the hashtag #ShopeeSCAM. This has become trending online and it even takes the top trending topic spot on Twitter last night.

This morning, Shopee has posted an official statement saying sorry to all app users and BLINK fans. They also promised that they are now reaching out to all those affected by the issue, and they are also taking steps to ensure that such an incident does not occur again in the future.
