Microsoft Pulls the Plug on Windows 10 Mobile

A few days after Microsoft’s announcement of Windows 7 support will end next year, the company also announced that it will no longer send support for Windows 10 Mobile on December 19, 2019.

Windows 10 Mobile was launched along with Windows 10 for PCs in 2015. It succeeded Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8.1 OS in which during that time was ranked number 3 mobile OS after Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS. The apparent lack of app counterpart from Google Play and App Store in the Windows Store was the main reason why windows 10 Mobile didn’t fly well. Apart from that, very few OEMs also supported the platform. Microsoft instead focused more on enhancing their services and support for Windows 10 since the PC market began to regain sales.

Microsoft even urged its remaining windows 10 Mobile users to switch to Android or iOS. For those who wishes to continue using your phone running Windows 10 Mobile, you can do so but it will never get updates anymore beyond December 19, 2019.
