Microsoft announced that they are ending their support for windows 7 next year, January 14, 2020.
Windows 7 was released in 2009 and it was big improvement from its predecessor, Windows Vista. Although during Windows 7 years, PC sales went down due to the popularity of Android and iOS powered tablets. In 2015, Microsoft released Windows 10 plus the company’s entry to the hardware market with the Surface branded laptops and 2-in-1 devices. Since then, Windows thrive again since other Windows OEMs like Dell, Lenovo, HP, ASUS, Acer released slimmer and battery efficient PCs.
Enough with the history. Windows 7 will no longer get software support such as bug fixes and security updates. But Windows 7 users can still upgrade to Windows 10 as long as the hardware requirements of your PC or laptop are met. If you decide to remain in Windows 7, the OS will still work but there will no longer be security updates and your PC will be vulnerable to viruses and malware.
