Xiaomi has been copying designs from different smartphones and incorporating it into their own. In the case of the Xiaomi Mi 8, the phone seems to look like a love child of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the iPhone X. It has a glass and metal design/ As usual, it is very slippery but the good thing here it is not as fingerprint magnet as we expected. We think Xiaomi has put a sort of oleophobic coating on the glass.
As for the display, we do love that Xiaomi used an AMOLED panel on the phone making it more vibrant and colorful to look at. We have to test it more outdoors to see how it fares under direct sunlight.
Xiaomi’s MIUI over Android has not been a favorite for many tech bloggers and reviewers for its cartoonish look and iOS-like vibe. But for Xiaomi’s customers they don’t seem to care. For our point of view, MIUI is fine. It is actually simple to use, lovely animations and has been refined over past versions. we would love to see an app drawer we see on its cousin, the Pocophone F1.
FIRST CAMERA SAMPLES
The i=Mi 8 has a dual 12 MP camera set up with the secondary lens being a 2x optical zoom and works as a depth sensor for bokeh. We also have a 20MP camera up front. We took some of our first sample shots and we were surprised on how good the photos are. We are excited to take more photos out of it in the coming days.
Here are some if our first camera samples
The Xiaomi Mi 8 is truly a great phone for its price of Php 25,990. We have here is the 6GB/64GB version. The camera looks promising and expect great gaming performance with its Snapdragon 845 flagship chipset. we strongly recommend the Mi 8 to anyone looking for a flagship smartphone for half the price of a Galaxy Note 9 or iPhone Xs. We will take the Xiaomi Mi 8 for a spin and test more of its performance and camera. Full review coming up soon!
