The ASUS TUF Gaming FX504 is one of the most affordable gaming laptop that you can buy right now.
Some of its notable specifications are; its 120Hz display refresh rate, Anti-Dust Cooling (ADC) system, 7.1-channel surround sound, and unique design that is perfect for casual users and gamers.
For its starting price of around 50K pesos, is it the one you are looking for? Read on!
BUILD QUALITY / DESIGN
When the laptop is close, you cannot easily determined that it is a gaming laptop. Unlike most ROG laptops, this one from ASUS has a stealthy design.
Opening the laptop, this is where the gaming aesthetics really came out. It has these linings that sets it apart from other gaming laptops.
It has a full-sized chiclet keyboard with dedicated numpad. Each key has a red color outlines with the WASD keys to have the thicker outline for emphasis specially for when gaming.
It also has an adjustable keyboard backlighting that you can maximize when using the device on low-light environments.
The typing feel is okay; the travel distance when pressed is good and the tactile feel is there.
The TUF FX504 has a good cooling technology. The heat and dust vents are exposed at the back making the hot air to be released immediately.
The TUF FX504 has a variant that features an ultrafast 120Hz display. The one that we have is a 15.6-inch with only 60Hz refresh rate. The viewing experience is acceptable specially when playing games although we also wish to test the variant with higher refresh rates.
The colors on the display are vivid thanks to its 130% sRGB Wide Color Gamut. The brightness is also good; glares and reflections are minimized because of the matte finish of the screen.
The variant that we have has a configuration of Intel Core i5 8300HQ processor, GeForce GTX 1050, paired with 4GB RAM.
This setup is enough specially for beginners. We tried playing DOTA2, PUBG, Dragonball Fighter Z, and Tekken 7, and they are still playable. Though we sometimes experience click delays and lag specially when multi-tasking because the 4GB RAM may not be enough on today’s scenario.
GeekBnech 4 Benchmark scores:
The ASUS TUF Gaming FX504 has manage to put almost all the ports on the left side. In order, it has the charging port followed by the LAN port, HDMI port, 1x USB 2.0 port, 2x USB 3.0 ports, and the 3.5mm headphone jack port.
We are only getting around 2 hours and 30 minutes when playing games on the TUF Gaming FX504. We feel that this is below standards now-a-days since we had around 4-5 hours on the ROG GL503 before. So if you are planning to bring this out, you better bring the charger with you.
The ASUS TUF Gaming FX504 is one of the good choice if you are looking for your first gaming laptop. We recommend that you get the one with 120Hz display and upgrade the RAM into at least 8GB to prevent lagging. Overall, we feel that it has the potential to be a gaming laptop specially for beginners. Thanks to its expandable memory and multiple configuration choices.
