Huawei P20 Pro Long Term Review

Its a great year for Huawei. Sales are up, people are loving the phones and of course, prices are very attractive. The company’s 2018 flagship, the Huawei P20 series earned so many positive reviews.

We did a review of the Huawei P20 a few months ago and we love that phone. As fpr the higher end Huaeei P20 Pro, we decided to do a long term review instead. We’ve been using the Pro for about 3 months now. So how was it on a long term, everyday grind? Let’s find out.

As of this writing, the Huawei P20 Pro has been recently reduced from P44,990 to P40,990

We will not be surprised if many tech media will award this phone the best in design. Clearly the millions of dollars Huawei invested for its R&D has clearly paid off. It is obviously a pretty phone to look at .

We are the type of user that doesn’t abuse their phones such as drop tests, bend test, etc. But we accidentally dropped the phone a couple of times and it luckily survived the fall thanks to its plastic cover case included in the package. Thankfully it did not incur any damage.

As for the display, it is not the brightest out there but its 1080p resolution is favorable for its battery as it sips less juice.

The daily grind for the past three months has been very smooth and fluid.  Under the hood, the Kirin 970 chipset paired with generous 6GB RAM proved to be an effective workhorse. Gaming and multitasking is a breeze.

Based on track record .Huawei is quite prompt with small updates such as software improvements and security patches. But updates to the latest Android version take some time. We hope Huaeei could deliver Abdroid 9.0 Pie hopefully this year.

Of course, the Huawei P20 Pro’s best feature are those cameras. We have a 40MP main sensor bit by default it is set to 10MP. There’s a 20MP monochrome lens and 8MP sensor for depth sensing. This is by far the best camera system we’ve reviewed so far apart from it is also smart because of AI (artificial intelligence).

There are no words to describe how great our sample shots. Some of them were taken in Bangkok, Thailand.

For so many Huawei phones we reviewed, we come to a conclusion that Huawei phones have the best WiFi and cell radio around. We always get the best WiFi and network signal. Calls are clear with no inxident of dropped calls.

We praise Huawei for putting a large 4,000 mAh battery. We love the all-day endurance as we are heavy smartphone users. On our very rare ligjt use, we amanged to get teo days of charge.

With Huawei’s great design and build quality, the Huawei P20 Pro will serve you well for two good years. If in any case ypu are not aware, the P20 Pro is water and duast resistant. This is definitely for keeps.

Its not petfect though – not so bright display, no headphone jack, no microSD, and a notch. But if you can forgive these shortcommings, then this is the phone for you.
