Harman Kardon is well-known for making high class home and car audio equipment. Today we are going to share with you our experience with the Harman Kardon Go+Play.
This speaker is not just a typical Bluetooth audio device. It is more of what we call a boombox in general. It also has a built-in rechargeable battery that can last up to 8 hours of playtime and it can also charge your smartphone from its USB port. For its price of Php14,990, is it justifiable enough for you to consider it? Let’s find out.
PHYSICAL APPEARANCE / DESIGN
The Harman Kardon Go+Play has a very stylish and iconic design that can easily fit on any space you placed it. The one that we have comes in color black with an accent of stainless steel handle on its top. If you prefer a cleaner-looking one, you can also pick the one that comes in color white.
The speaker is covered with fabric grills around.
The top part is made up of rubber consisting of the 5 easy-to-press buttons (Bluetooth, Volume Down, Power, Volume Up, and the Play||Plause button). It was also equipped with a stainless steel handle.
The bottom cover is made up of plastic and it has 4 stands that slightly elevates it from the surface.
The back part house the different ports. Starting from the left is the USB port that allows you to charge your phone using a cable. The other one is a microUSB port for upgrading the firmware of the speaker. The third is a AUX port for an alternative audio input if you don’t want to use the Bluetooth feature. And the last on is the charging port.
At this size and weight of 3.4kg, it’s probably to large for most people to carry it around on a regular basis unless you have a car. But thanks to its stainless steel handle making it portable enough to move it around the house.
EASE OF USE
Unlike some portable speakers, the Go+Play has a very simple and very easy to understand buttons. It has a dedicated Bluetooth button that lights up when you pressed to indicate that it was turned ON.
Aside from that, the dedicated Volume Control buttons are also there and produce a sound when you reached the maximum volume. The Play&Pause button also function to answer calls from your smartphone.
The Go+Play is powered by Bluetooth 4.1 technology that allows faster and more optimized data transmission. You can connect multiply devices into it to play sound simultaneously. Just in case you want a better listening experience, you can get another Go + Play speaker and pair them with each other.
Equipped with dual 90mm woofers, two 20mm twitters, and a pair passive radiator, this portable speaker produces powerful and superb room-filling sound.
Listening to the song Hotel California by Eagles will definitely showcase how the Harman Kardon Go+Play can handle to produce the surround sound that you are looking for. The song is rich in texture that you will distinguish the different instruments, the thunderous bass, and the rich tone of the vocals.
You can also expect clear voice calls thank to its Harman noise and echo cancelling technology.
The Go+Play meets superior sound quality and effortless portability. But this is nothing if it cannot stand with you during dance rehearsal or into your garden party this summer season. Good thing, its 22.2Wh rechargeable battery can last up to 8 hours of music playtime on around 50% – 75% volume. If you are just using it on your room, it can last up to 9-10hours. But using it on its maximum volume will give you around 5 hours of music playback. It also has 5 light indicator so you can easily track the battery life of the device.
Just in case your smartphone run out of battery, this portable speaker can also work as a powerbank to charge your phone using its dedicated USB port.
Charging it using the included AC adapter with an output of 19V||3A will take up to 3 hours.
The Harman Kardon Go+Play is a real powerful portable and wireless speaker. It has a well-built design that can easily fit on any space. In terms of portability, this audio device is suitable enough to carry around the house or when you have a dance rehearsal somewhere.
