Dell Inspiron 13 7000 (7373) 2-in-1 Laptop Review

Laptops now-a-days are becoming thinner but their specifications are becoming better. In line with this, 2-in-1 laptops are becoming a trend specially for people in the business industry.

Last December 2017, Dell Philippines has launched their new laptops. This includes the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop and finally we had the chance to take a hands-on review on it.

The Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop has a very slick, classy, and sturdy-looking overall design. It is very compact, slim, and very comfortable to carry/use on any modes; laptop, tablet, and tent mode.

On its right side, it has a noble lock, a USB 2.0, and a SD card reader.

On its left side, it has a power supply port, USB Type-C, HDMI 2.0, USB 2.0, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

You will notice that it doesn’t have an Ethernet LAN port so you will only rely on the Wi-Fi for its internet connectivity. This is now more evident for latest 2-in-1 laptops to maintain their thin builds. Aside from that, it is also sad to see that it doesn’t have at least one USB 3.0 port for faster data transfer.

Its keyboard also support back-lighting which is very necessary when you are using the device on dark environments. Good thing, it has two modes of back-lighting,  (1)low and (2)high lighting. This is a good option to save some battery life while using the keyboard’s backlight.

The review unit that we have was equipped with an Intel Core i5-8250U 8th generation processor and an Intel UHD Graphics 620 GPU. As we use the device for more than two weeks as our daily blogging buddy, we have never experienced any lags. And since its storage is a SSD, its boot time was only around 10 seconds and you are good to use the device! Its 8GB of RAM can handle multiple apps running simultaneously and switching on each app is surprisingly really fast.

Heating is not an issue with this device, even though its not meant for hardcore gaming, I still tried to play DOTA2 with at least 2-3 rounds of games. It heats a little but it is still manageable and understandable.

The device has a built-in infrared camera that can works together with Windows Hello for secure facial recognition, allowing you to log in with just one look. Although sometimes its having a hard time recognizing specially on dark environments. But in case facial recognition doesn’t work, you can still enter your password as an alternative login feature.

The elegant thin-bezel design gives you added screen space for multimedia viewing, while the Full HD IPS 1920 x 1080 touch display lets you view your screen from a wide range of angles without sacrificing image quality. In addition, a stunningly bright 300-nit panel makes working outdoors easier and streaming more enjoyable.

Waves MaxxAudio® Pro delivers professional-grade sound, completing your immersive experience. It has two speakers on its bottom part and they are pretty loud, good for watching movies and listening to YouTube videos.

Aside from the ports and security features mentioned above, this device supports Dual Band 2.4 & 5 GHz 802.11b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi connectivity. Compared to mobile phones which only support 802.11b/g/n connectivity, the Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 has better signal receptions. While when it comes to Bluetooth connection, this device has a Bluetooth 4.2 version which faster and more battery efficient.

Its 38Whr 3-cell battery can last for an average of 5 hours of normal usage; internet surfing, creating Word/Powerpoint documents, and playing music in the background. While you can expect around 3 hours of battery life on playing high graphics games like DOTA2. We think that this is where the Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop lost in the battle compared to other 2-in-1 laptops in the market. Most of them are guaranteed on 6-8 hours of battery life on normal usage which is very convenient for people who are working On-The-Go.

Overall, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop is an amazing device. It may look too expensive for others on its official price point of PHP 63,490 but look at the specifications and its thin design. It can also guarantee you for an optimum performance starting from creating Microsoft document, opening multiple tabs on your browser, editing photos on Adobe Photoshop, doing basic CADs, and playing some high graphic games. You will also love its 2-in-1 feature; laptop and tablet mode, it can easily adopts on any lifestyle that you have. It also has an infrared camera for unlocking the device without typing your long password. To conclude it all, the Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 laptop is a good device for its price. If you are fine with the 5-6hours of battery life, go for it and it will not bring you down.
