DESIGN AND HARDWARE
The company decided to stick with its old design it had with the OPPO F1 series last year with the new OPPO F3 Plus. It did have some few design differences like those three-line antenna bands on top and bottom at the back. This is a big phone by the way. It has a large 6-inch display and the indeed, the phone its a bit chunky and hefty at 185 grams. The heft is not an issue for us though for some it may. If you wish a lighter smartphone maybe you can wait for the smaller OPPO F3 when it comes out soon.
We are happy to see some high end features like a generous 64GB of internal memory which is more than enough for your selfies. As for its audio, we are happy to report that OPPO did an excellent job putting a very loud speaker at the bottom. Audio quality using our third party earphones are very excellent too.
A full HD resolution on a 6-inch display is perfect for multimedia consumption and gaming. Brightness output is also good as it is usable under direct sunlight.
SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE
The OPPO F3 Plus is running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with OPPO’s ColorOS 3.0 on top. We know some of you might be wondering why the device is not on Android 7.0 Nougat. OPPO actually wants to give you different smartphone experience that’s why it promotes more of its own custom UI ColorOS. They do update ColorOS to give you a different experience. But since Filipinos really don’t care about what Android version their phone is, we guess this won’t be a problem.
The device is powered by a higher end Snapdragon 653 chipset with 4GB RAM. On our nearly a month of using the device, we never encountered any lags or slowdowns. Gaming has been smooth too.
OPPO did a different approach on its cameras. Instead of focusing more on selfies, the company wants you to ditch your selfie sticks for groupfies. Aside from the 16 megapixel selfie shooter, there is another 16 megapixel shooter for wide angle shots. This means you can take group photo comfortably.
Aside from that, we are very surprised with its rear camera. It is a 16 megapixel shooter with a large f/1.7 aperture. This means more light can come through the lens. Photos are just stunning. Here, take a look!
All necessary connectivity options are available – 4G/LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and Fingerprint Scanner. The fingerprint scanner works just fine and unlocks the phone really quick. Calls are clear with no issues. LTE speeds are within normal range.
Putting a large 4,000 mAh battery on a huge smartphone is a good move. We managed to get two days of power on our light to moderate use. On our heavy battery test, we manage to get more than 4 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time. We did video looping – You Tube and I Want TV video streaming with WiFi and LTE turned on at auto brightness.
The OPPO F3 Plus is the best premium selfie smartphone you can buy today for 24k. The price matches the features and specs it offers – excellent cameras, premium metal build, big gorgeous display, smooth/lag free experience. The photos we’ve taken are even better than the other phones on this price range.
If you find it expensive, we suggest you wait for the regular OPPO F3 that will be unveiled soon.
