ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom Unboxing and First Impressions

ASUS Philippines is set to launch the ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom this April and we were lucky enough to get our first hands on with the the device itself. We were to get a quick hands on of the device way back in January but that was an engineering unit and software is not that polished yet.

The ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom we have right now is the final and retail unit that you will see in stores. Just like you we are anxious to check it out! Unboxing time!

Looking back at our first encounter with the Zenfone 3 Zoom, nothing has changed with the design. The metal build and design is similar to the ASUS Zenfone 3 Max. We do love this Navy Black variant of the Zenfone 3 Zoom. It is actually black but when light strikes, it becomes navy blue.

The ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom still runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow but folks for ASUS Philippines said that Android 7.0 Nougat update is on the way for the device in time for its launch.

And now the cameras at the back. It has two 12 megapixel rear cameras with a similar set up with the Apple iPhone 7 Plus – one camera is a Super Pixel main sensor and has an f/1.7 aperture while the other camera is the Zoom camera with 2.3x optical zoom and f/2.8 aperture. Top of the line features like Optical Image Stabilization, Phase Detection Autofocus and 3x optical zoom comes standard with both lenses.

We will be taking the ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom for a spin. Our focus will be on the camera, the design and the big 5,000 mAh battery. Full review in a week! 🙂
