Acer has been very aggressive with its new and current laptop line up. For a long time, Acer has been a key brand when it comes to computers but in the recent years, the laptops they’ve been releasing laptops that we consider a bit disappointing in terms of design and battery life.
With the release of the Acer Aspire S Series and the new Swift series, Acer as a brand has been getting all the attention now. Our friends from has sent us an Acer Swift 7 for review and its crazy thin! How does it fare on our everyday computing? Lets find out.
Acer Swift 7:
- Intel Core i5 processor 7Y54 processor
- Intel HD graphics
- 8GB RAM
- 256GB Solid State Drive (SSD)
- 13.3-inch Full HD IPS display (1920 x 1080 pixels)
- 2 USB Type C 3.1 ports
- 2,770 mAh 4-cell battery
- Windows 10
HARDWARE AND DESIGN
One of the Acer Swift 7’s best selling feature is its slim design. It feels like holding a folder and that’s how thin it is. It can easily be tucked into a girl’s bag. Even our own backpack feels lighter. This is a dream laptop for any casual everyday user. Though encased in metal, we never encountered any heating issues while charging or with normal use.
SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE
The Intel Core i5 paired with 8GB of RAM will handle all your heavy and memory hogging apps running at the background. It performs well and never lags. We do mostly blogging work and use of office apps like Word or Excel but nothing like video editing or playing online games. We think it can handle video editing and games because of its generous RAM .
Since Acer wants to achieve certain thinness of the Swift 7, there are some features that needs to be off the list. Two words to describe this – DONGLE LIFE. The Swift 7 only has two USB Type C 3.1 ports which means you need USB Type C adapters if you need an HDMI, USB 2.0, Ethernet or even memory expansion. If you are bothered buying an adapter for all your connectivity needs, then the Swift 7 is perfect for you.
Acer claims up to 9 hours of battery and it did. With our casual use at 50% brightness with WiFi on, it did achieve 9 hours of battery. Though playing games and intense video looping might get you below the ideal battery life.
The Acer Swift 7 is the ideal everyday laptop you can buy right now. There are pros and cons so you have to weight them very carefully because you will be throwing P64,990 for this device.
