Starmobile Play Plus Unboxing and First Impressions

If you have a budget around 2 to 2.5k chances are, you’ll be getting phones with small screens, half a gig RAM, outdated software and probably a slow performance. Starmobile intends to change that with the Starmobile Play Plus, a very pocket friendly smartphone. This device has a very large screen with 1GB of RAM, quad core processor, and running Android 6.0 Marshmallow. We have one for review so let’s unbox it. 🙂

  • Earphones

  • Wall adapter

We were greeted by a beautiful black phone. The device looks very solid and it is not slippery thanks to its rough surface. There’s nothing fancy here, it just a simple black smartphone. Though we find it a little hefty, your hands can easily hold it and wrap around it.

Buttons and ports check:

  • Right – nothing
  • Left – power button and volume rocker
  • Top – 3.5mm headset jack
  • Bottom – USB charging port
  • Back – 5 megapixel camera with flash and speaker grill
  • Front – 5-inch display, sensors, 2 megapixel front camera

As of this writing, we have not installed any of our apps that we use everyday. By the way, unlike the Starmobile Play Max we previously reviewed, this device is unlocked and has no bundled SIM from Smart. This means you can use your Globe SIM here. Overall performance has been generally smooth. That is because of its 1GB RAM that handles multitasking very well. We will see if things will change once we installed more apps.

We will be reviewing the Starmobile Play Plus for two weeks  and full review will be up after that. 🙂
