Elephone P9000 Quick Hands On

We were able to take a quick look at the Elephone P9000 at yesterday’s launch. The Elephone P9000 is a the company’s current flagship smartphone. Specs are very high end which includes a fingerprint scanner and quick charging capabilities often found on flagship devices. Here’s our quick look.

Elephone P9000:

  • Octa Core Helio P10 processor
  • Mali T860 MP2 graphics
  • 4GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage expandable via MicroSD up to 128GB
  • 5.5-inch Full HD LTPS display with One Glass Solution (OGS)
  • 13 megapixel rear facing Sony IMX258 camera with autofocus and dual LED flash
  • 8 megapixel front facing camera
  • Dual SIM, Dual Standby
  • 4G/LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, Fingerprint scanner
  • GPS, A-GPS
  • 3,000 mAh battery with Quick Charging support
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • SRP: P11,499
  • Status: Available via Lazada on April 18

From the looks of the Elephone P9000 alone, the device is quite elegant and sophisticated. The aircraft grade aluminum gives a touch of sturdiness and by just holding it, you will know it is well built. The 5.5-inch display is stunning thanks to its LTPS panel. This certain display gives punchier colors than regular IPS LCD displays but at the same time, it sips less battery.

Due to our limited time with it we were not able to take photos to test the camera. But online Lazada said they will have review units on hand so that we can review it further.

The Elephone P9000 now supports USB Type C which means your regular Micro USB chargers will not fit here. So make sure if you intend to buy one, keep a good eye on your USB Type C charger.

When it comes to performance, the Elephone P9000 is buttery smooth. The UI has an almost stock Android look. No need to download a third party launcher, we personally prefer a standard Android UI than the customized ones. One more thing we love with the device is it now runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. Features such as Now on Tap and Doze will be available here.

We are pretty sure that the 3,000 mAh battery will hold up with a whole day of moderate to heavy use but we have to test it further to confirm it. Worry not about the battery because the Elephone P9000 has quick charge and wireless charging options.

Overall, the Elephone P9000 is truly a phone to watch out! Amazing features like fingerprint sensor, quick charging capabilities and LTPS display are normally found on expensive flagships. Elephone is changing the game here. Having a smartphone with all these features for only P11,499 is indeed highly recommended. 🙂
