Happy Mobile D-Lite Plus 2 Unboxing and Quick Review

Happy Mobile has been pretty quiet these past few months. We recently had a meeting with them and it seems they are brewing something big. For now, they gave us a smartphone to review – the Happy Mobile D-Lite Plus 2. Its an entry level smartphone running Android 5.1 Lollipop. The smartphone was announced back in January and it just hit the stores this month. Let’s go check it out.

  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB internal memory expandable via MicroSD up to 32GB

  • 5 megapixel rear facing camera
  • 2 megapixel front facing camera

  • 3G/HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth
  • GPS, A-GPS
  • 2,500 mAh battery
  • Android 5.1 Lollipop

  • Status: Available at Happy Mobile stores and kiosks

Here’s what we saw inside the box

  • Happy Mobile D Lite Plus 2 unit
  • USB cable
  • Wall Adapter
  • Earphones
  • Phone Case

We are indeed surprised when we saw the Happy Mobile D-Lite Plus 2 for the first time. It is made with metal chamfered sides and a soft matte plastic back that is removable. Overall, it is a beautiful smartphone that you can flaunt.

  • Top – 3.5mm headset jack and USB charging port
  • Left – nothing
  • Right – volume rocker and power button
  • Bottom – microphone
  • Back – 5 megapixel camera with flash and speaker grill
  • Front – capacitive buttons, 2 megapixel camera, earpiece and 5 inch display

The 5-inch display is on HD and it looks good. For a phone this affordable, the display is quite better than smartphones with higher price tag. The Happy Mobile D-Lite Plus 2’s display has good viewing angles, good contrast and color reproduction. One gripe, however, is it doesn’t have auto brightness so you have to adjust the brightness manually.

Happy Mobile has its own custom UI on top of Android 5.1 and it feels like its running Android 4.4 Kitkat. From the notification drag down menu to the settings and to the keyboard, it feels like its running an older version of Android. So we double checked if it is indeed running Lollipop.

Performance-wise, it is quite responsive but lags are noticeable since it is on powered by a dual core processor. We advise not to load graphic heavy games here. Good thing that the Happy Mobile D-Lite Plus 2 can run social media apps like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram very well and chat apps like Viber and FB Messenger.

We are happy to report that the battery life is above average. With casual social media and chatting via Viber, Skype and FB Messenger will last you for 10 hours with about 17% power left. Sadly, you really have to charge it every night.

The Happy Mobile D-Lite Plus 2 is a gorgeous affordable smartphone for people who does not want a smartphone with fancy features and just want a pretty smartphone that is functional and delivers.
