In a day and age where music streaming is a must to survive every day, Volvo Cars is the first car manufacturer to integrate it into your daily drive. It partnered with Spotify, a hugely popular music streaming service available on iOS and Android, to bring you and your music to the places you need to be. This new feature will be available on Volvo’s upcoming XC90, S90 and V90 as announced at the 2016 Mobile World Conference in Barcelona this past February 27, 2016 to March 2, 2016.
Sensus is Volvo’s in car infotainment system. Volvo has made sure that Spotify would seamlessly be integrated with Sensus by going as far as to create a custom interface for the popular app. So what can this new feature mean to you:
- Syncing all of your favourite playlists, artists and albums on Sensus. You no longer need your smartphone to play music.
- Streaming high quality audio that maximizes the Bowers & Wilkins sound systems in all new XC90, S90 and V90 cars.
- Spotify on Sensus has a search functionality that non-native applications cannot deliver.
- Spotify Connect – lets your passengers remotely control Spotify on Sensus without the need to plug in which helps saves mobile phone battery.
One thing to note is that accessing this service will require a Premium subscription. Though a 30-day free trial period will be available for first time users where Spotify is available.
Today, Spotify is able to stream music in current Volvo models via Bluetooth or through Apple CarPlay. Though in line with this integration, the native Spotify application in Volvo Cars’ Sensus user interface in the new XC90, S90 and V90 showcases a fuller and richer experience. We hope you’re as excited as we are about this because our rides are just about to get smoother.
