FUJIFILM’s Flagship Unveiling: Three Years in the Making

We can truly expect that 2016 will be another good year for our local Fuji X-Photographers. In line with the 5th Anniversary of X-Series Cameras, Fuji Philippines launched two cameras, a lens and a pro-grade flash unit for Fuji X Series users. Last January 21, 2016 at Discovery Suites, we had to opportunity to experience and see all these exciting new offerings coming from the Japan’s pioneering photographic film maker.

The highlight of the launch is the new Flagship update, the Fuji X-Pro 2. Followed by an update of the Fuji XE-2, the X-E2S was also showcased. The new X70 will be a welcome addition for fixed lens believers. For the Telephoto users, FUJINON XF100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR lens was also revealed during the event. To round-up the big announcements was a new high-end external flash unit, the EF-X500. (Click the links for the specs and what to expect.)

Marie Dela Cruz, Fujifilm Marketing Leader, started the event with a walkthrough of the rich history Fuji has and it’s vigour for Corporate Social Responsibility. They are not afraid to share what they do and know best which is photography. They supported the restoration and recovery post the Great East Japan Earthquake by restoring survivor’s photos. So they aren’t all about sales, but they did mention that DSLR sales are losing to mirrorless cameras.

Glenn Gatan, a Marketing and Product Specialist from Fuji Philippines, who got us acquainted with the list of fantastic technology during the launch. He also noted that color is at the heart of every Fujifilm camera which is the mark of Fujifilm Corporation. Also, Fujifilm being the only company that provides film simulation mode. Users can look forward to better managing color in their photos and focus on getting that shot.  Not to mention, you get that old retro feel while at it.

Among those in attendance at this exclusive event were the Fujifilm X Ambassadors, namely  Lito Sy (@litosy), Jan Gonzales(@jangonzalesphoto), Xyza Bacani (@xyzacruzbacani) , Niko Villegas(@nikogvillegas), and Rommel Bundalian(@rommelbundalian). These Ambassadors had the privilege to experiment, experience and explore the new cameras and lens as early as the prototypes. They were also in Tokyo, Japan for the Fujikina 2016 which was held last week. Check out their captured experiences on Instagram.

We definitely had fun at this event and definitely learned a lot. If like us, you’re still itching for more, you can check out #5YearsofXSeries and #Fujikina2016 on Instagram.
