Canon has introduced its new Mirrorless Camera to the market, the Canon EOS M10. Due to the shifting demands for lighter but equally capable Mirrorless cameras, it is not surprising that Canon is regularly churning-out new cameras for their social media savvy consumers. The EOS M10 is their newest offering being introduced just last October 13, 2015.
EOS M10 is more affordable compared to Canon’s other Mirrorless Camera, the EOS M3. The camera has an 18 Megapixel APS-C sensor and it is partnered with Digic 6 image processor. This enables the camera to handle bigger file sizes at faster rates. This camera also has ISO sensitivity range of 100 to 12800 (expandable to 25600) which helps increase your shutter speed at low light environments. Like the recent Canon cameras, the EOS M10 also uses the older Hybrid CMOS AF II Autofocus system which enhances the focusing speed during live view. So you no longer have a fear of missing that shot. Also, the EOS M10 can continuously shoot up to 4.6 frames per second.

The Canon EOS M10 captures 24 and 30 FPS videos at 1080p, and 60 fps at 720p (.MP4 format). At back, it has 3-inch tilting LCD screen and several access buttons.
EOS M10 has a placed emphasis on connectivity with a built-in Wifi and NFC. You can transfer your photos wirelessly whether it’s to a mobile phone or tablet for quick posting in any of your social media website or apps.
The Canon EOS M10 also comes with the EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM lens with the following features:
- Mount: EF-M / APS-C format
- Full-frame 35 mm equivalent: 24-72 mm
- 10 elements in 9 groups
- STM Motor
- Optical image stabilizer (IS)
- 0.25 Meter minimum focusing distance
- 49mm front thread
This lens is the bundled kit lens of the EOS M10 with a range of 15-45 (standard zoom) and a compact size of 1.76 Inches where you wouldn’t worry about heavy lifting during a whole day of shooting. This range would allow you to shoot different subjects considering that its focusing distance is .25 meters.
The EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS uses STM – Stepping motor. It makes sure that focusing will be smooth and quiet. It is a plus for users that are using the camera for videography. It also has the Optical Image Stabilizer (IS) Technology, which will allow you to use slower shutter speed when shooting still photos.
It will be available this November with a price of $299, and if together with Canon EOS M10, the package price would be $599. There is no schedule yet for local release. So for now, check out the sample images and movies here.
