Say Hello To Obi Worldphone!


There’s a new smartphone brand coming to the Philippines and it is not a Chinese brand. Say HELLO to Obi Worldphone! We’ve reported this before about months ago that the US-based Obi Mobile (its former name) is prepping up to build affordable smartphones with superior technology.


The company was founded by former Apple CEO John Sculley and Ajay Sharma. Now, after a few months, they have announced two of their first smartphones – the Obi SF1 and Obi SJ1.5. Let’s take a look at the specs.


Obi SF1:

  • 2GB RAM/16GB internal storage

Obi SJ1.5:

  • 1.3GHz Quad Core Mediatek MT6580 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB internal storage expandable via MicroSD up to 32GB
  • 5-inch HD IPS LCD display (1280 x 720 pixels)
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • 8 megapixel rear facing camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • 5 megapixel front facing camera
  • Dual SIM, Dual Standby
  • 3G/HSPA+, WiFi, Bluetooth
  • GPS, A-GPS
  • 3,000 mAh battery
  • Android 5.1 Lollipop with Lifespeed UI

The Obi SF1 has a price tag of S199 for the 2GB RAM/16GB variant and $299 for the 3GB RAM/32GB variant while the Obi SJ1.5 is priced at $129. We’ve talked from some Obi Worldphone officials a few weeks ago when they visited the Philippines and they will enter the PH market before the year ends.
