Firefly Mobile Allure 64 LTE Hands On, First Impressions

Local smartphone brand Firefly Mobile has been a center of the spotlight these past few months after it released two new smartphones with impressive specs – the Allure 64 LTE and Intense 64 LTE. We payed a visit at the Firefly Mobile kiosk in SM Light Mall in Mandaluyong yesterday and those kind people there gladly showed us the Firefly Mobile Allure 64 LTE. We played the smartphone for a few minutes and here’s our hands on experience.

Firefly Mobile Allure 64 LTE:

  • 1.7GHz Quad Core Mediatek MT6752 64-Bit processor
  • Mali T760 MP2 graphics
  • 3GB RAM
  • 16GB internal storage expandable via MicroSD up to 64GB
  • 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD display (1280 x 720 pixels) with OGS (one glass solution)
  • Fingerprint scanner
  • 13 megapixel rear facing Sony Exmor IMX 214 camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • 8 megapixel front facing camera with flash
  • Dual SIM (regular + micro), Dual Standby
  • 4G/LTE, 3G/HSPA+, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG
  • LTE bands – 800/1800/2100/2600
  • GPS, A-GPS
  • 2,900 mAh battery with Fast Charge support – 0% to 35% in 15 minutes
  • Android 5.0 Lollipop

There’s no denying where did Firefly Mobile got its inspiration by just looking at the device. Everything from the bottom firing speakers to the metal frame and fingerprint scanner, it really looks a lot like the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. When it comes to build quality, we are very impressed. It feels really solid in the hand.

The display is one of the phone’s strengths. The 5.5-inch HD IPS display is bright and crisp though we have not tested it outdoors. Viewing angles are great too.

We tested the unit for about 30 minutes and based on our short time with it we never encountered any problems like lags or stutter. The phone has games installed and we tried installing Dead Trigger 2 as we tethered the Allure 64 LTE with our phone. Dead Trigger 2 ran fine here.

We’ve read some complaints on the phone’s support page on Facebook but we really can’t comment on that since we only played with the device for a few minutes. We will reserve our judgement once we buy one really soon. 🙂

Camera performance is generally good. It takes pretty good pictures on well-lit areas. We have to test it on different environments once we have our unit. Unfortunately, we forgot to send our sample pictures via Bluetooth. 🙁

The Firefly Mobile Intense 64 LTE looks so promising! The hardware, the display and camera will really make you buy one. Firefly Mobile did a good job bringing this phone to our market. This will heat up the competition further. And the winner will be us consumers. We promise to buy one really soon and post our review asap. 🙂
