Nokia Lumia 1320 Short Hands On: We Want One!

When Nokia unveiled the Nokia Lumia 1520, we were amazed on how Nokia has put together this fantastic Windows Phone but of course, it comes with a hefty price too. And then, Nokia also unveiled the Nokia Lumia 1320 which has the same screen size of the 1520 but has toned down specs. We have been wanting to see the actual phone itself and here’s our hands on experience.

Nokia Lumia 1320 specs:

  • 1.7GHz Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor
  • Adreno 305 graphics
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal memory expandable via MicroSD up to 64GB
  • 6-inch IPS HD LCD display (720 x 1280 pixels) 245ppi
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • 5 megapixel rear facing camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • VGA front facing camera
  • LTE, HSPA+, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0
  • 3,400 mAh Li-Ion battery
  • Windows Phone 8
  • SRP: P20,500 on Nokia stores (please correct us if we’re wrong)

Hardware and Build Quality – Unlike the Nokia Lumia 1520, the Lumia 1320 has curved edges and has more rounded sides making this large phone easy to hold. It would be a struggle when holding it with hand though.

Display – The Lumia 1320 may not have a full HD display, it does sport a lower res 720p HD display. Although stretched on a 6-inch display, pixels are not evident. The display is impressively sharp, bright and has good color reproduction. We enjoyed watching a few minutes of video on this phone.

Software and Performance – The phone is powered by a 1,7GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. What we like about Windows Phone devices is that they don’t really need quad core processors to run smoothly and that’s proven with other WP devices like the Lumia 1020 and Lumia 925.

Camera – We thought that the 5 megapixel camera will be a downer but to our surprise it didn’t. The camera takes better pictures than the 5 megapixel camera of the Lumia 625. No, it doesn’t have Nokia’s signature Pureview camera found on higher end Lumia devices but heck, it takes good pictures. Too bad we were not able to Bluetooth some of the sample photos taken from the demo unit.

Initial Verdict – This is the Windows Phone we are drooling to own! Specs may not be kick ass but it performs much better than Android phones running the same processor. And that’s the beauty of Windows Phone. The Nokia Lumia 1320 is priced P20,500 on Nokia stores and that’s pricey. You can check out Kimstore because the Lumia 1320 is only P15,480 there.
