Sony Sells Its VAIO PC Business

In a surprising move, Sony has sold its PC business to Japan Industrial Partners Inc, a Japanese company that specializes in investing in turnaround, buyouts and carve-out investmests. Sony said it will instead focus on making tablets and smartphones since the PC business is no longer making money.

Aside from that, Sony is also revamping its Bravia TV business by setting up a new standalone company and its gaming console, the PSP4, which is also making money, will be given more attention.

A new company will be set up in March 2014 to hire Sony employees to continue making VAIO PCs  and to fullfill all its aftersales warranties.
