Kata i3 Unboxing and First Impressions

Kata Digital is relatively a newcomer to the industry. It is a Hong Kong based company that makes and sells smartphones and tablets. So far, they only have a handful of products on their line up. They have been selling gagdets in the Philippines for a year now. Last year, Kata has been quiet and keeping a low profile which may be the reason why they remained to be unknown to many despite their kiosks and stores being present at the malls. This year, they are now seeking attention. Kata has invited tech bloggers (including us) to their very first blogger’s event recently. During the said event, Kata officials showed their latest flagship to be launched soon. Folks, meet the Kata i3!

The author of this blog won a Kata i3 unit from a raffle during the said event. Anyway, let’s proceed with the unboxing, shall we?

The box ┬áis quite intriguing because it really looks like the box of Apple’s iPhone 5s. It looks really nice and very neat. Upon opening the box, we were greeted by the Kata i3 wrapped in a plastic cover. Package includes the following – headset, unit itself, USB and adapter.

First Impressions:

  • The phone is made from glossy plastic and it is prone to fingerprints
  • Design looks elegant especially the color of our unit here – Royal Blue.
  • It seems pretty solid and well built
  • Gorgeous screen
  • We noticed some few hiccups but according to Kata, there will be a firmware update coming to address these few bugs we noticed.

Full review will be coming in a few days. We will also dig into the processor since we have no idea what kind of chipset Kata used for the i3. We will be testing the phone’s capabilities – camera, gaming, hardware, software, and battery.

Kata has will be having an event to formally introduce the i3 to the consumers. This will be Kata’s first big event for the Philippines. To know about Kata’s line up of gagdets click the links below.
