Motorola Moto G is Coming to The Philippines via DB Gadgets!

Online store DB Gadgets announced on their Facebook page that Motorola’s affordable smartphone Moto G is coming! This is a sign that Motorola is definitely returning to the country thanks to the company’s new parent, Google. If you are out of the loop lately, Google has acquired the handset maker Motorola Mobility, the other half of the divided Motorola (the other one was Motorola Solutions) back in 2011. This year Motorola has made a big comeback in North America with the unveiling of the Moto X, the company’s first smartphone under Google’s banner. So far sales is doing well in North America. Motorola wants to regain some lost market by introducing the Moto G back in November 2013 in Brazil. Its an affordable smartphone that costs $179 (around P8,000) with far better specs than your average entry level smartphone.

Motorola Moto G specs:

  • 1.2GHz Quad Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor
  • Adreno 305 graphics
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8/16GB internal storage
  • 4.5-inch HD display (720 x 1280 pixels) 326 ppi
  • Corning Gorilla Glass 3
  • 5 megapixel rear facing camera with autofocus and LED flash
  • 1.3 megapixel front facing camera
  • HSPA+, WiFi, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0
  • 2070 mAh battery
  • Android 4.3 Jellybean upgradable up to Android 4.4 KitKat

Because Motorola is owned by Google, the company has an advantage compared to its Android OEM rivals Samsung, LG, HTC and Sony because both Moto G and flagship Moto X are getting Android 4.4 KitKat by January. I was just wondering if the Moto G is priced around P8,000 in the US, why is DB Gadgets selling the phone for P13,500 starting on December 20. Knowing DB Gadgets price will get lower as it goes on sale. The online is only offering the 8GB variant only here which means you will be getting very limited memory for music, pictures and games. I’m also pretty sure its nemesis, Kimstore will follow and start selling the phone as well. I’m hoping Motorola Philippines (Yes, they are still alive and kicking but only has a small operation. In fact Motorla has a kiosk in SM North Edsa) will officially bring the Moto G and Moto X to the country.
