Meet The Acer Liquid S1: Acer’s First Phablet

Acer has unveiled at Computex 2013 in Taipei the Acer Liquid S1, the company’s first phablet. The phone sports a huge 5.7-inch HD display, a quad core CPU from MediaTek, 1GB RAM and running Android 4.2 Jellybean. Based on the hands on videos we saw, the UI is almost stock Android which is a bit of a refresher from Samsung and HTC’s heavily customized UI. Acer has entered the phablet battlefield together with Samsung Galaxy Note 2, ZTE Grand Memo, LG Optimus G Pro among others.

Acer Liquid S1 specs:
  • 5.7-inch TFT HD display (720 x 1280 pixels), 258 ppi
  • 1.5 GHz quad core MediaTek processor
  • PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB internal memory, no expandable storage
  • 8 megapixel front facing camera with autofocus and LED flash, VGA front facing camera
  • HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, WiFi hotspot, Bluetooth 3.0
  • optional dual sim
  • 2,400 mAh battery

The phone will be available in Europe in Q3 2013. Just like the Asus FonePad Note, this device doesn’t support LTE which is our biggest gripe. The phone will cost 320 euros which will be roughly be at P18,000 to P19,000 range. No word yet for a Philippine release..
