The world’s leading smartphone SoC (system on chips) maker, Qualcomm, has officially announced the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 processor.
It is basically an upgrade from the Snapdragon 710 announced last year. It features AI and performance features which is already present on the Snapdragon 710 plus better performance especially for gaming.
The Snapdragon 712, like the previous 710, is built on a 10-nm process and the sophisticated, multicore Qualcomm AI Engine, consisting of the Qualcomm Kryo 360 CPU, Qualcomm Adreno 616 GPU, and the Qualcomm Hexagon 685 DSP. Qualcomm claims 10% increase in performance for better multimedia and mobile experience.
The chipset also comes with an integrated Snapdragon X15 LTE Modem for fast 4G/LTE internet speeds. For the camera department, it has Qualcomm’s Spectra 250 which supports AI (artificial intelligence) together with their own AI engine, can take better photos through scene detection.
Lastly, the new Snapdragon 712 has its own optimization for better battery life and supports fast charging too (QuickCharge 4+). Expect new phones powered by the Snapdragon 712 later this year.
