Huawei is still dedicated to provide wide range of products for their consumers with the launch of their new tablet – the Huawei Mediapad M5 Lite.
If you are still looking for a tablet for your multimedia needs like watching movies and TV series, let’s find out if the Mediapad M5 Lite is the one for you.
What’s in the box:
- Huawei Mediapad M5 Lite unit
- wall adaptor
- data / charging cable
- SIM tray ejector
PHYSICAL APPERANCE / DESIGN
The Mediapad M5 Lite has a minimalist design with its aluminum body. It is solidly built and there are no weak-points when we are trying the press the back cover. We also like the curve edges which makes it easy to pick up from flat surface.
On the front, it has a full glass screen that also covers the side bezels. You can also see a slight curving going to the edges which is nice.
Ports and Buttons:
- Right: volume rocker and power button
- Left: microSD card tray, Type-C port, headphone jack port
- Top: microphones and speakers
- Bottom: speakers
When it comes to the volume rockers and power button, we think its better if they are placed on the top part. They are okay when using the tablet in landscape mode but if you are using the tablet in portrait mode, the volume rocker and the power button will be placed on the bottom which very unusual.
The Mediapad M5 Lite has a huge 10.1-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution on a 16:10 aspect ratio. Aside from the big display, there’s nothing really special about it. But you can still expect good colors, sharp details, and good viewing angles.
OS / SOFTWARE / UI
This tablet is running on Android 8.0 (Oreo) with EMUI 8.0. The pre-installed apps are just minimal with the usual Google apps, Microsoft Office apps, utilities for the stylus, and some games that you can un-install you you don’t want them.
The Mediapad M5 Lite has a total storage of 64GB with a usable space of around 50.8GB.
The Mediapad M5 Lite has an 8MP rear camera and another 8MP front camera. While most of us will not really buy this tablet for taking pictures most of the time, this kind of camera setup can definitely take acceptable photos.
It’s good to see that Huawei still manufacture tablets like the Mediapad M5 Lite. We believe that there are still consumers who want a big screen for their multimedia needs and for editing documents like word files, PDF, and presentations. There are still many features that we have to test specially the quad-speaker setup powered by harman/kardon. Till then, watch out for our full review.
