Samsung Galaxy S9

Samsung is facing some tough competition with Huawei, the Chinese brand, ascends to Number 2 top smartphone brand in the world. But despite that, Samsung has managed to come up with great phones such as the Galaxy S9/S9+ earlier this year.

But with the recent announcement of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, will buyers still consider to buy the Samsung Galaxy S9? Let’s find out.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 we have here has been with so many tech bloggers before it was handed io us. It means that it has been through a lot . It is still a good looking phone after more than three months of abuse as a whole, we love holding it more than the Huawei P20 Pro.

But let’s answer the magic question. Should you buy it? YES. And here are the reasons.

Great Sound Quality

This is by far the best stereo speakers we’ve heard since HTC Boomsound on the flagship phones. We are no aufiophiles but we know good audio. There are no distortions whatsoever even on high volumes.

Amazing  Display

Samsung still holds as the best display pn a smartphone. The reason is simple. It is a Super AMOLED display which the company has been using on their phones for a long time now. In fact, this screen tech is also present on their TVs as well. Aside from being colorful and vibrant, it has excellent sunlight legibility too. It is super bright that that the Huawei P20 Pro can’t compete under direct sunlight.

Good Build Quality

Expect that Samsung phones are always build tough and the company has proven that. The Galaxy S9’s metal and glass construction make the phone not just elegant but durable too.

Still the best camera

We believe that Huawei has nailed it when it comes to the cameras of the P20 Pro but we believe that the Galaxy S9S9+ is still one the best and far better than the current iPhones you see. Its variable aperture feature un which can be manually adjusted depending on the light condition of your subject is the best and most useful feature of our camera experience.

Here are some of our sample shots:

It is cheaper than the Note 9

Pricing the Galaxy Note 9  at P75,990 is a bit steep but there’s a more affordable at P55,990. The Samsung Galaxy S9 is P10,000 lower than the Note 9. You get the same awesome features but with a slightly smaller screen and no S Pen. If you wish to go bigger, the Galaxy S9+ is your best bet at P51,990.

LAST THOUGHTS

The Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ is our best smartphone for the year because of the reasons we stated above. In addition to that, both devices are eligible for Android updates for 2 years including Andriod P and Android Q. Though not as timely as Pixel phones, it is not as late as other Android.
