PHYSICAL APPEARANCE AND DESIGN

sdr

If you are thinking that the OPPO F7 Youth shares the same body and design with its bigger sibling, the OPPO F7, you are wrong. One of the biggest difference you will notice is the absence of the notch. Good thing, you can now get the Diamond Black color as part of the standard color of the F7 Youth.

Turning the phone at the back, you will also notice that the fingerprint scanner has been also removed.

At the bottom part, there is an additional hole besides the microphone. This might be an indication that the F7 Youth could support noise cancellation.

DISPLAY

Aside from the absence of the notch, other things about the display are just similar with the F7. It still has the same 1080 x 2160 pixels in resolution with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Colors are still vivid and the sharpness of display is on point.

SOFTWARE, APPS, UI

The OPPO F7 Youth was equipped with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo and ColorOS 5.0. With this, you can expect the new UI from OPPO; one of the most noticable changes is the absence of the Control Settings by swiping upwards from the bottom of the screen.

ColorOS 5.0 now has the same Quick Settings with other Android devices by swiping downwards from the top of the screen.

Even though the F7 Youth doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, the Face Unlock feature is still there.

Based on our experience, the fingerprint and Face Unlock fetures of the OPPO F7 and F7 Youth are one of the faster we ever tried!

We are also surprised with the AnTuTu Benchmark score of the OPPO F7 Youth, it has surpass the F7 with almost 10K points!

CAMERA

The camera is one of the best things about the OPPO F7; not only the 25MP f/2.0 front camera with A.I. Beauty Recognition Technology but also the 16MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture for better low-light images.

Unfortunately, the OPPO F7 Youth has decreased some MP on its cameras. On its back, now has a 13MP camera with a smaller f/2.2 aperture. While on its front, it only has an 8MP f/2.2 camera.

In terms of image quality and overall experience, we will still check if it has a major difference with the F7. For the mean time, here’s our initial sample photos:

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The OPPO F7 Youth is just one of the offerings of OPPO just in case you don’t have the enough budget to purchase their higher end smartphones like the latest OPPO F7. Good thing is, you still get most of the good traits the OPPO F7 on a much lower price.
