PHYSICAL APPEARANCE / DESIGN
If you love the design of OPPO F5, the OPPO F7 will capture your eyes in terms of colors, the solar red, diamond black, and moonlight silver. The antenna band linings are removed from top to bottom and the back is made of plastic but it looks like glass. The overall design of OPPO F7 is solid and feel premium on its price range.
The OPPO F7 featuring a huge 6.23-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display of OPPO F7 is good, it has vibrant colors, contrast is good and even the display under the sunlight is OK.
The small notch at the top of the screen might feel strange specially if it is the first time you use a smartphone with this feature but eventually, you will get used to it. Inside the notch there’s the 25MP front facing camera, the earpiece, and the proximity sensor.
SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE
The OPPO F7 has the latest Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.0. The ColorOS 5.0 is almost stock android with little design and the OS itself has no too much bloatware. The Quick Settings has also moved by swiping down from the side of the notch.
Just in case you are looking for a more secured device, the OPPO F7 has fingerprint and face unlock features, the fingerprint and the face unlock are very responsive.
The OPPO F7 has a Mediatek Helio P60 processor which has been announced last January at MWC Barcelona 2018. The Mediatek Helio P60 was paired with the powerful Mali-G72 GPU. The device handles the all high settings of NBA 2k18 (a little bit lag when the simulation cloth is ON) and PUBG also in high settings. The device can also handle heating pretty good, it heats a little bit.
The sound quality of speaker is good, the stereo is greater than the bass. The earphone quality is same as the speaker but more bass.
The OPPO F7 was equipped with a 16 Megapixel f/1.8 aperture rear camera and a 25 MegaPixel with A.I. Beauty Recognition Technology feature version 2. The camera app was improve with the sticker and the super vivid mode.
The 16MP rear camera is shooting well in daylight and good lightning conditions even in indoors, the bokeh effect is inconsistent. In low light, the rear camera is still having a little bit struggle and you will see a tiny of noise on dark areas. But considering that it has an aperture of f/1.8, it will surely by-pass other smartphones which are on the same price point.
The 25MP front facing camera might be a little bit step-up from OPPO F5 but it shows bigger improvement. The details is great in daylight, in lowlight the detail is good and less noise than the rear camera.
When we use the new super vivid mode, the colors are being over-saturated to make the photo more pleasing in the eyes. We also noticed that the Sticker Mode is making the photos overexposed from both rear and front facing camera.
The OPPO F7 has 3, 400 mAh battery, it can almost last a day with normal use. Moderate to heavy use with online games and social media, it can last to 8-9 hours. No fast charging is available here and still micro USB port. The charging time is about 2 hours.
The OPPO F7 is great phone for having a premium design, the latest Android 8.1 Oreo, simplicity of the ColorOS 5.0, a 25MP front facing camera and 16MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, a better AI beauty recognition, a NOTCH, the latest mid-range Mediatek Helio P60 with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, the 64/128GB ROM & 4GB/6GB RAM variants and the price. Even though OPPO sacrifices some trade-offs like having USB Type-C and fast charging, OPPO balanced the gaming performance and the camera side which many people now-a-days attract the most. That’s why it captures us also in many ways.
