HARDWARE AND DESIGN
made out of good quality plastic. the phone’s over build quality could take an accidental fall. Good thing Starnobile bundled a free case and a screen protector so worry not about protection.
Since it is also plastic, expect it to be lightweight and easy to hold with one hand.
The 5.2-inch display has a decent resolution of 720p. Sunlight legibility struggled a bit but overall outdoor legibility is acceptable. But we do recommend to turn off the adaptive brightness when outdoors.
SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE
Based on the the benchmarks, it clearly shows that the Starmobile UP Selfie is an entry level smartphone. It may be entry level but it does not show any sluggishness during the duration of our review.
Light games will run here but we don’t recommend downloading heavy games here. The Mediatek chip can only do so much.
The phone truly lives up on its name as a selfie centric smartphone.n Equipped with dual 13 megapixel selfie shooters being one lens is wide angle, groupfies are achievable. See for yourself and check out our sample photos.
4G/LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and Fingerprint Scanner comes standard. The phone is also equipped with 700Mhz LTE band in which you get faster internet speeds. calls are clear though occasional distortions are evident when when there is sudden change of signal quality.
Overall battery performance is average. The 2,900 mAh battery can last up to 9 hours of moderate to heavy use with about 3 hours of screen on time. Battery drains a bit faster when 4G/LTE is turned on all the time.
Good quality hardware, decent selfie cameras and smooth performance, the Starmobile UP Selfie won’t disappoint you. It is not ideal for gaming and battery will not last longer than expected, nut these are minor gripes. The Starmobile UP Selfie is now available for P6,999
