HARDWARE AND DESIGN
If you have already seen or handled a Zenfone 4 Selfie, the Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite has a very similar build and design to it except for the single front camera. The device feels so light as compared to other devices which body are made out of metal. Its polycarbonate shell with a metallic finish glitters when subjected to sunlight which adds a sophisticated look into the device.
On a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, this will give you a below average viewing experience. Although the screen is surprisingly bright even outdoors on daytime, we feel that it lacks on details and sharpness specially when viewing photos and applying wallpapers on it.
SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE
As compare to the Zenfone 4 Selfie which runs on a Octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor with 4GB of RAM, the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite was only powered by a Quad-core Snapdragon 425 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Even though both of them runs on Android Nougat, since the Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite has a huge CPU and RAM difference, of course you can expect that the Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite is not as smooth as the Zenfone 4 Selfie. Using the default launcher which is the ZenUI 4.0 is okay, but when you switch to other launchers like the Nova Launcher, you will feel a little bit delay when scrolling and browsing the device.
- AnTuTu – 36763
- 3DMark – 3703 (Ice Storm Extreme) / 53 (Sling Shot)
- Geekbench – 685 (Single-Core) / 1881 (Multi-core) / 1396 (Compute)
Overall performance is not bad. You can still play average level games like Mobile Legends, Shadow Fight 2, and other high graphic games like Asphalt 8, Rules of Survival, and Marvel Future Fight on their low settings.
The ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite works just like any other Zenfones. Expect efficient battery consumption and zero to minimal battery drain during the night when you are not using the phone. Its 3,000mAh battery juice can last a whole day of average to extensive use and up to 2-3 days of normal usage which includes text, call, and internet browsing.
The device is equip with a 13 MegaPixel rear camera and a single 13 MegaPixel selfie shooter as compared to its siblings which are equipped with dual selfie shooters. The output photos are not far away from the shots we have taken using the Zenfone 4 Selfie (see sample photos here), except for having a wide-angle selfie shots.

The ASUS Zenfone 4 Selfie Lite is one of the affordable selfie smartphone that you can get on the market today. With a price difference of almost P5,000 from the Zenfone 4 Selfie, you can still enjoy good selfies and wefies. Of course there are some trade-off regarding this matter like no wide-angle on selfie, lower CPU and RAM specs, and a lower internal storage. But if you are out of budget and want to enjoy having selfie phone, you can still consider this device in your list.
