Qualcomm has announced that after almost 12 months of testing, they had finally completed their first test of a 5G connection on a mobile device. This has been made possible with the X50 5G modem that they had announced last year.

The test was able to deliver 1-Gigabit per second download speeds and a data connection of 28GHz mmWave radio frequency band combined with advanced signal processing technologies. But Qualcomm claims that the modem is capable of having the maximum speed of 5Gbps once full 5G deployments are completed.

Aside from that, Qualcomm also shows a reference of a mobile phone device that they could use together with different mobile phone companies to test the new 5G modem. Together with different smartphone makers, Qualcomm is preparing to release 5G compatible devices on the first half of 2019.

Theoretically, this new 5G technology will results to a better internet data connectivity. But for sure, many things will also change along with it.
