However, tech addicts also know that it is possible to get the most value for hard-earned money if you know how to choose your gadgets right. HARDWARE AND DESIGN
I don’t know if it is just me but I find it hars to recognize phones just by looking at them. To me phones today kind of look alike. The C9 Pro blends in the crowd of Android phones. It maybe a small detail but I like that Samsung has branding etched below its earpiece. It is a minor detail that gives the phone individuality, making it stand out from the rest.
For a mid-level phone, the Galaxy C9 Pro looks sleek and stylish yet sophisticated with its glass and metal casing. The antenna bands sit with poise at the phone’s back end, adding a certain sexy look to the phone.
Measuring 6.41 in x 3.18 in x 0.27 in, the Galaxy C9 Pro charmingly captures attention. However, if this is Galaxy C9 Pro’s best asset it also becomes a set back.
Just like any other gadget I had the privilege to spend time with I used the C9 Pro both for work and play, using it as my main phone.
I loved how the C9 Pro’s dimensions make it look in-fashion and up-to-date but after holding the phone for a while and after prolonged use my hands get strained. I find the phone too big for my hands. I would have to say the grip and the size of the phone does not suit me very well. I figured the phone will be for users who have bigger size hands.
The C9 Pro’s monstrous 6-inch AMOLED display screen is one of my favorite features. I also think this is among the feature that help justify the price.I enjoyed playing games and watching movies on the phone because the display gives well defined colors and deep shadows.
The large screen made it easier for me to write articles and do research using my phone. The phone’s ginormous screen and its camera’s fantastic capabilities go hand in hand. This I think is a very good highlight of this phone.
Post-processing photos is also easier with the C9 Pro’s large screen which happens to sport 1080 pixel x 1920 pixel resolution.
SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE
The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. At P27,990 I was expecting the a Nougat OS on this phone. But all in all the perfomance of this phone is well above average.
I always want to find out about a phone’s performance when multitasking. I always switch from one app to another. And I need a phone that can keep up with how fast I multitask. The C9 Pro although running on Marshmallow, which I wished were a Nougat, was able to keep up. No lags or no sudden apps that shut down.
I played Sims Build A City on the said phone and kept it running in the background while I work using the same phone. I am happy to report that the Galaxy C9 Pro fared pretty well.
One thing that gets me excited when a new phone lands on my hand is the camera! I skip all the unnecessary parts of checking out a new phone and shemelessly go straight to the camera.
I am happy and pleases with the Galaxy C9 Pro’s camera. The best way I could describe it–It made my amateur photography skills good. And I like that I have a large screen to view the photos I took.
The camera comes packed with several shooting modes–Auto, Panorama, Continous, HDR, Selfie, Night and Food. The camera launches instantaneously when you tap the home button twice, a nice feature that comes in handy when you want to take a quick photo.
Photos come out crisp and bright when set on auto mode. Although the phone’s Pro shooting mode lacks manual focusing and brightness adjustments these does not come as major set backs. The panorama feature is something I enjoyed. I think tech addicts who enjoy shooting cityscapes and the great outdoors can benefit from this.
Also, the phone’s 16-megapixel rear camera does not lag when shooting continously.
I had the chance to take the phone to Anilao. Photos taken during daylight are fantastic with bright and punchy colors making the shots look “alive”.
The C9 Pro has everything you actually need in terms of connectivity–4G/LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth and Fingeprint Scanner.
When connected to high internet speeds the phone works really well. It also easily detects WiFi that are in close range. It also easily connects to other phone’s hotspots via thetering without disconnecting even during inactivity.
The fingerprint scanner is sensitive and easily detects and scans finger prints to quickly unlock the phone.
I am happy with the the C9 Pro’s battery’s endurance. For someone who does not like charging and mindlessly forgets to plug in her phone to charge a phone that can last a day without going dead battery is a gift from the gods!
Running on 4000 mAh the C9 Pro is power-packed. When fully charged it lasts up to 8 hours without begging to be plugged in an outlet.
I also tested how long it will last if I don’t tinker with it but kept all apps open including WiFi. The C9 Pro lasted 3 days before going black.
The Samsung Galaxy C9 Pro is a bit expensive but comes ready with features to justify its price. Also, I think a trusted brand’s name has a price tag of its own, right?
All in all this is a great mid-level phone. It has everything you need with a few premium extras like the camera. If you are looking for a mid-level phone and have a few extra thousand of pesos to spare you can go for this phone.
It does not disappoint.
