Since ASUS chose a perfect material for the Zenfone 3 Zoom, after three months, the device remains looking good as new. When we had the unit about a month ago. It already had a small scratch on the upper left corner at the back near the camera. It is barely noticeable though. With careful handling and care, we think the Zenfone 3 Zoom will last years. 🙂
We have not seen any significant change with the display. So far it is still like we’ve seen when the phone was brand new. Although auto brightness could use some attention via software update. It does not go as bright as it should. Turning the auto brightness off will do the trick
With all our apps, games and data stored in this phone, the Zenfone 3 Zoom is still as smooth as ever. This proves that the Snapdragon 625 paired with 4GB RAM is a perfect combination for multi tasking and heavy gaming. ASUS did promised an Android 7.0 Nougat update and we are still waiting for it.
On our review, we did mention that this is the best camera on a Zenfone and after three months it is still the best among its peers. The highlight of the camera is the 12 megapixel telephoto lens which is capable up to 2.3x and 5x optical zoom. Taking pictures is stress free when zooming because it is far better than software digital zoom. Here, take a look at some of our photos.
Always stay connected as the Zenfone 3 Zoom has all the necessary connectivity options – 4G/LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, Fingerprint Scanner. Signal drops are very minimal though we notice that it does not get much signal than the other phones that we have as of this writing. 4G/LTE is still fast as usual and calls are clear with no issues.
There were no changes as to its battery life even after three months. Standby time can take you for days when in light use. We still achieved two days battery life despite heavy use. Amazing! Our video loop test shows around 15 hours of straight movies, TV shows from You Tube, Netflix and I Want TV.
There are still a lot to like with the ASUS Zenfone 3 Zoom – great hardware, nice zooming camera, reliable software, and excellent battery life. This particular Zenfone 3 Zoom unit has aged beautifully and it is still worth your look. If you are particular with software updates, this is the phone you might want to consider since Nougat update is coming soon.
