HARDWARE AND DESIGN
LG did listen to its customers and ditched the modular concept it implemented on last year’s LG G5. The LG G6 is a straightforward and sturdy smartphone. It is beautiful too with its brushed metal finish. Its a bit thicker than other smartphones we see but its also taller thus, easier to hold with one hand.
It is also the smallest smartphone with a 5.7-inch display thanks to its very small bezels. It means more screen, more fun! And speaking of the display, the IPS panel is in Quad HD resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio which perfect for watching movies.
SOFTWARE AND PERFORMANCE
Since it is a flagship device, it is expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat with LG’s own UI on top. If you wish to add an app drawer, that’s possible when you download this specific theme on the settings. Overall performance was smooth and it ran Super Mario Run very smoothly.
The dual camera set up is as the same as the LG G5 of last year – one with a 13 megapixel shooter and another 13 megapixel 125-degree wide angle camera. Photos are significantly better than its predecessor and even better than the LG V20. Take a look at some of our sample photos!
All connectivity options comes in standard – 4G/LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, Fingerprint scanner. LTE speeds are within normal speeds but this is area depended, calls are clear with no issues as well.
As for the battery, we do not have much time to test it since we only had a few hours with it. We reserve our verdict on the battery once get more time with the LG G6 in the coming days.
Our first impressions – A BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE for LG! Finally, LG has come up with a smartphone we think it deserves the price tag – premium build, water resistance, great display and amazing camera. There is nothing not to like with the LG G6!
The LG G6 will be available for pre-order beginning April 17. Click here to find out more.
