Yesterday, many of you that Korean car maker Hyundai have entered the smartphone market through Hyundai Mobile. Earlier this year, they released their first offering, the Hyundai Aero and we were like “what?” A smartphone from Hyundai sounds refreshing honestly and this is a first – a known car maker that entered the smartphone business. Will Toyota or Honda follow? Hehehe…
Months after Hyundai Mobile is back and announced the Hyundai Aero Plus. Cellprime Distribution Corp, the company behind Cloudofne are the ones distributing Hyundai Mobile to the Philppines had expressed excitement with this product. We had a brief moment with the Hyundai Aero Plus and here’s our first impressions.
Hyundai Aero Plus:
- 2.0GHz octa core Mediatek Helio P10 processor
- Mali T860 graphics
- 3GB RAM/32GB internal memory
- 4GB RAM/64GB internal memory
- Expandable via MicroSD up to 128GB
- 5.5-inch Full HD IPS LCD display (1920 x 1080 pixels)
- 21 megapixel rear facing Sony IMX230 camera with autofocus and LED flash
- 8 megapixel front facing camera
- Dual SIM, Dual Standby
- 4G/LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, Fingerprint Scanner
- GPS, A-GPS
- 3,000 mAh battery with fast charging and wireless charging
- Android 6.0 Marshmallow
At first glance, we think that the phone resembles a mix of HTC 10 and OnePlus 3 design. It is sleek, slim, beautiful piece of hardware. We love the smooth surface that does not attract fingerprints. Its quite slippery though but good thing Hyundai Mobile included a black matte case for the 64GB variant. If you observe closely at the photos, the bottom part has a pin. That pin connects to the matte case and that case enables the phone to do wireless charging. The wireless charging pad is also available on the 64GB variant.
The interface is purely vanilla stock Android which we love. Bloatwares are very minimal and at the home screen, they are all found in one folder called Gentleman’s Kit. Yeah, fellow techies, the phone is gearing towards the male crowd. According to Hyundai Mobile, many phones right now cater to the female crowd especially with the choice of colors. The company wanted to offer a modern premium smartphone to a Filipino gentleman (ehem, kami yun) just like the awesome cars they offer.
We briefly tested the camera and it looks good! Our friend Peter Jan Icogo, from GizGuide.com has been taking photos and so far we are very impressed with it. Here are some of his sample photos.
The Hyundai Aero Plus will be available exclusively at online store Lazada for P13,990 for the 32GB model and P15,990 for the 64GB variant. Hyundai Pasong Tamo is also holding a promo where the first 10 Hyundai Tucson buyers will get a Hyundai Aero Plus for FREE! Nice offer indeed. Anyway, please do standby for our full review once we get our review units. 🙂
