This is a long overdue review. Earlier this year, Torque started the year with a new line of smartphones and tablets called Ego. The company released a small smartphone called the Torque Ego One. It may not be the ideal smartphone for many of us but we think it is perfect for kids… as in elementary kids. Read on to find it out.
Torque Ego One:
- 1GHz single core processor
- 256MB RAM
- 512MB internal memory expandable via microSD
- 3.5-inch TFT display (320 x 480 pixels)
- 3 megapixel rear facing camera
- 3 megapixel front facing camera
- 2G/EDGE, WiFi, Bluetooth
- Dual SIM, Dual Standby
- GPS, A-GPS
- 1,000 mAh battery
- Android 4.4 Kitkat
The Torque Ego One is a small device with dimensions of 191 x 117 x 9.8mm. It is not ideal for our hands and we particularly hate the shiny black back because it hordes fingerprints and smudges. We suggest you to buy the white one. We handed over the Ego One to an eight-year old girl and it is just perfect to her hands. Really ideal for kids.
Small phones comes with small displays. Good thing the 3.5-inch display has adequate amount of color and brightness to it.
For basic calls, texts, and social media, the single core processor can handle it. We dont recommend downloading games because if its very limited internal memory and limited capacity of the RAM. Voice calls are clear and we did not encounter any issues with it.
The 1,000 mAh battery can be underwhelming but remember, the Torque Ego One has a small screen and a single core processor which barely sips power plus it doesn’t have 3G or LTE so, it means power can be stretched.
For only P1,199, this could be your little kid’s first phone without worrying much when they are in school field trip or having a sleepover at their friend’s home.
