We are now sharing our short hands on experience of the Elephone P8000, the mid range smartphone among the trio of smartphones launched by Elephone and Lazada Philippines recently. The Elephone P8000 is one of the few smartphones in the market with a big battery and a fingerprint scanner at its pricepoint. Let’s check it out!

The Elephone P8000 is a huge smartphone in terms of weight and dimensions. The reasons why are the large 5.5-inch display and large 4,000 mAh battery. For us, we don’t mind the added weight because it is not that heavy compared with the Asus Zenfone Max and Lenovo Vibe P1. Flipping the phone at the back, we are not sure if we like the patterned back but it reminded us of the old Kata M2L and older Blackberry smartphones dated 4 years ago.

This smartphone is one of the few at this price point that has a full HD IPS LCD display. The 5.5-inch screen is sharp, vibrant and with good color saturation. Though we have to test it under direct sunlight to know how punchy its brightness output.

Elephone did only few tweaks at the stock Android UI which we like best. We see other Chinese brands adding distinction by putting a custom UI on top of Android is norm so it is such a breath of fresh air to see a Chinese brand with almost no tweaks. Honestly we do love Google’s stock Android UI.

Due to our limited time with it, we were not able to test the camera, overall performance and battery life. We will try to cover all of it when we get the opportunity to review the Elephone P8000 for a longer span of time.

The Elephone P8000 will be available at online store Lazada starting April 18. 🙂
