Just a few weeks after its rebranding, Grab introduced two new services, further drilling down customers’ transportation options in Metro Manila.
GrabCar 6-Seater is similar to the regular GrabCar option but is cheaper than the more premium GrabCar+. Since its introduction, GrabCar has been strict about accomodating up to only 4 passengers. However, more and more customers avail of the service in bigger groups and since GrabCars are becoming smaller (e.g. Wigo and Mirage), the introduction of this new service aims to address that. The service is now available via the Grab app and you may find it between the GrabCar and the GrabCar+ options. Both cash and GrabPay (credit card) options are available for this service.
We actually tried the service at 7PM on a Friday, travelling from Ortigas to Eton Centris. While the GrabCar option posted a rate of a whopping P630, GrabCar 6-Seater only costed P190. We were able to book a Toyota Innova. However, the rates will still depend on the availability of the service in the area and the traffic condition around the pick-up and drop-off points.
Aside from GrabCar 6-Seater, Grab is also intoducing GrabJeep. It’s, however, not a service you can book from the app. It’s an airconditioned jeepney with a fixed route. The designated stops are the following:
- SM North EDSA
The service is now available. We don’t have information on pricing yet, but we will be updating this article as soon as we get it.
